Firstly, for those who hate the Carlton name being listed second, it's a Richmond home game and that has always been the convention at all levels of footy. So I've titled the thread Rnd 1 "Richmond vs Carlton." just like the draw/fixture. You can look at the title and know it's an "Away" game.

50,000 fans at this stage not a bad result, not really any different to an inclement weather result. I think if I recall correctly it doesn't affect us anyway because we killed off the shared gate deal a couple of years back.

I'm not sure which angle we'd choose to attack, but considering Sarah Hosking was able to take her kick....and played out the game and would surely back up Maddie P in any tribunal meeting (They hugged after the game).....i don't know the charges can stick.

Next weeks fixture has been revealed and we are up against the Kangas down at Tassie.

Not great having to play against them, but they are currently in a slump so the timing is probably right.

I predict a couple of changes based on last weeks effort.

She could've been nominated it in any of the first 3 games this year.

Could to see she has been recognised.

She spoke about her pre-season and how she has been doing so much running (not much else to do in lockdown) and she is basically on a par with her old man......but still behind her brother.

Reward for effort.

Our season is finally underway with a good win over the 'Aints down at Moorabbin. The question now is, who do we play next week? Do we play next week? Where will we play next weekend?

Considering that we have had 1 game at home and 2 away, the favourite venue would be Ikon Park, but that is only probability speaking. We could be playing anywhere.

More than likely, the game should be against another Victorian club, due to the travel restrictions.

Considering that most games have been on Saturdays, it is likely that we'll again play on a Saturday. I won't complain about that. I'll be happy as it gives me a chance of getting to the game.

There does not appear to have been any injuries come out of yesterday's game. Therefore, it is reasonable to suggest that the team may remain pretty much the same.
However, there was supposed to be a VFLW practice match yesterday, allowing the rest of the girls a chance of impressing. A smart way of approaching things is to select horses for courses, but we don't tend to do that much.

It could be as late as Thursday before we know much about this. The covid situation and how the state government reacts to it will probably make the AFL leery about making any early decisions. Considering that it is still is still a better than even chance of having restrictions continue longer than Wednesday, I don't expect to know very much for some time.  :'(

The VFLW is starting up very soon.
Interesting indeed is starting the VFLW season while the AFLW is still going. It does suggest that the ladies who miss out will get game time, although that is hard to confirm. Maybe someone with a better internet connection can confirm that.

I must admit that I have been quite irritated that the girls who miss out each week had no opportunity to impress in the past.
In the past there has been no opportunity to groom girls, as anyone can draft them from the VFLW. I wonder if that is still the case. There are a LOT of girls playing AFLW who started with Carlton in the VFLW!

Maybe its because I'm getting older and set in my ways but this term " influencer" and the social media scene is doing my head in especially with the amount of money they are making usually by the advertising that is pumped through their channels depending on how many subscribers or should I say dopes who follow their rubbish.
eg I was looking for some financial information on the share market and came across these kids who promote themselves as investing experts....100k subscribers and these kids are earning 36k a month for finance tips and education courses they have developed which you could get out of a Warren Buffet book from the library for free with minimal effort, one had zero qualifications in the field and the other 2 years of a degree that he quit.
I have seen all these other " influencers" promoting  weight loss methods, beauty tips, finance scams all the way through to following their daily life especially what they are having for dinner etc....
Does anyone want to work a proper job anymore or do they just want a buy a video camera, a mic, some editing software and produce copious amounts of trash to flood the internet with?
Then there is this Patreon service where your subscribers pay you money to essentially fund this rubbish they are producing separate to their social media advertising income.
There seems no laws governing the BS these influencers can put out, some of its just dangerous and could seriously injure people both physically, financially and personally...

Carlton plays the Drug Cheats at 11:00 at Carlton on Thursday 25th Feb, two days before my 60th Birthday.

Interesting to see how Saad goes against his old team.

Fixture took a little while, but its up and we are playing at moorabin for the first time in 27 years or something ridiculous.

Hopefully this is the one that gets the ball rolling for the girls.

A minor request, but is it possible to have bigger avatars ? I'm pretty sure the ones on the old site were larger, and the current ones are somewhat mingy IMO.
