It’s probably time to kick off a thread, but the normal enthusiasm for the Olympics just isn’t there. My personal opinion is that they shouldn’t go ahead, but that’s balanced a bit by the realization that many athletes have worked extremely hard to be in their best possible shape for the upcoming games. To time it just right is a tricky task and they’ve already had the disappointment of last year’s postponement.
Normally at this time there are usually some great lead -up performances as teams are finalised. I’m a big track and field fan so that’s where my main interest will be. It may just be because we’ve had a bit of a starvation of competition over the last eighteen months but I’m actually a bit surprised that lead up performances are so good considering the lack of training opportunities and competition. We’ve seen a few world records.
It’s probably not good to be too sceptical, but when it comes to athletic records, some of us have become a bit cynical. I’m wondering whether testing regimes have been quite as tight during this period, or have a few folks taken the opportunity to add an extra ‘weetbix’ to their brekkie.

Not a great time for the VFL to have a bye!! We needed to get a game into Fisher, more work into Kemp and Carroll and possibly some limited game time for Charlie and McGovern. Now it’s all put back another week.?

So nice to see Tomljanovic call out the cheating injuries, if only a few more players would do this!
Ajla Tomljanovic took exception to Jelena Ostapenko taking a suspicious medical timeout, venting to the umpire. "'You know she's lying"
The crowd knows it, the viewers know it, the fans know it, the players know it, the officials know it, the commentators know it, and nobody does a damn thing about this abhorrent tennis player behaviour!
What the feck is wrong with Euro sport, did anyone see that dive the player took at the soccer last week, he hit the deck like he'd broken a leg, was glancing around to see if anybody noticed and then when they didn't react he got up and sprinted away! What a piece of crap player and crap human he must be!

It was nice to see how we responded last week. Hopefully we can show something of that spirit this time as well.
I don't expect us to win with the injuries we have. So many of our better players are sitting in the stands again. It has been so long since we've had a full list to select from that I can't even remember it. It hasn't happened this Century as yet and doesn't look like happening any time soon.

Voting hasn't been a high priority for people of late. Our performances made it difficult. However, with a solid win behind us, I hope we can turn out this week as well and have a lot of players deserving of votes.
Voting is as usual: you have 15 votes to award pretty much as you will, with the following provisos:
[1] 15 votes in total, no more, no less.
[2] No more than 10 votes for any one player (even Sam Walsh)
[3] Three players at least must get a mention.
[4] A grade for the game, A+ (what I want to see) to F-.
