Bit of venting from yours truly..
Cruelty to animals...cant put up with it eg the following:
a: The bloke who hit and killed that Border Collie in a ute with a mallet...you gutless piece of rubbish....you should be jailed for 10 years.
b: Live exports to Vietnam should be stopped, why?....their version of an abattoir is some lunatic with a sledgehammer laying into cattle who are tied to a post...

| "Coaching To Win" VS "Playing For The Future" |

At present, Malthouse keeps stating that he is coaching to win matches and makes confusing changes to the line-up on a weekly basis that must be destabilising as well.
Some people like the 'coaching to win' proposition because it gives you something to cheer about and you know, in theory, they are actually chasing a win. The downside to this is that with a list that has a lot of flaws, the chances of winning are dramatically reduced so there is little to be gained by going there.
The other option open to him is to 'play for the future' by stacking the senior team with as many of the younger players as possible and build their exposure to the top level.
I'd prefer to 'play for the future' as it gives me a sense of expectation of how good some of our younger player may be down the track. It also allows them to regularly play together and build some solid camaraderie.
I really don't see a lot of benefit in constantly trotting out the old guys, they are about to be delisted or traded and therefore aren't exactly going to give it their all either.
Here's what I would do every week subject to injury :
B : Smith, Everitt, White
HB : Docherty, Henderson, Yarran
C : Viojo-Rainbow, Cripps, Buckley
HF : Bell, Casboult, Jaksch
F : Menzel, Watson, Judd
R : Kreuzer, Murphy, Whiley
I/C : Graham, Boekhorst, Byrne, Holman

It would be nice starting a thread like this after a win, but that is looking increasingly unlikely as the season progresses. However, we must move onwards, lest we develop the malaise that grips our playing group.
Remember:
[1] At least 3 players need to get a mention.
[2] No more than 10 votes for any one player.
[3] Give a rating of team performance. It can be anywhere from A+ to F. Please don't leave this blank. Our guys do not deserve the default setting (B).
[4] Votes must add up to 15.

The last of the great original Blues players. I saw him play 3 times at the tennis center during the U2 tour. RIP.

I've been tossing up between Bell and White for a new captain and settled on Bell as he gets on the park more often for a start.
Bell's improvement has been one of the few highlights of the year. If he keeps that going then he'll be a real weapon with that big body of his. He's showing. plenty of aggression and would make a lot of his lighter team mates stand taller. He's strong enough to take the extra attention that captaincy brings which Murf struggles with.
For vice captain I'll have White and deputy vice Cripps.

This is the first of 2 'curtain raisers' that the NB's play this season. Sei Danket Gott!!!!
For years we have wanted this and now it happens. Get to the game early and you get a reward - seeing the Baby Blues strut their stuff!
And there should be a bit of talent on show as a number of Blues are coming back from injury. I'll be very interested to see the team sheets this week.
