Well- I have done it

After 45 years following Carlton and Liverpool, I have purchased my first Melbourne Victory membership.

This purchase is before my Carlton Membership

50,000 at Etihad on Saturday

I think we need some enjoyment from other sports as Blues supporters for the next 5 years

I blame the incompetent Carlton Board over the last 20 years for this decision C:-)

GO VICTORY!

I'll say today after watching Dawks 3 peat they are a great
side but if the Dominator was in that 50/50 1st qtr Cripps v Isaac Smith the laughing Hyena would be waking up now at the Epworth….sorry footy was tougher back than and I smith would be waking with the stars….West coast played like pretty Private School footballers….got the wrong result but gee they were nice guys eh?

shit i hope our baggers don't that way!!!

  NRL FS vs AFL FS
Posted by: townsendcalling - 10-01-2015, 02:42 PM - Forum: Blah-Blah Bar - Replies (16)

The NRL world is generally seen as sexist, blokey and a boy's club, yet the NRL Footy Show is able to include a 'football intelligent' attractive female in Erin Molan who is shown a high degree of respect by both the panel and audience and not treated as a token female.

With the recent accusations leveled at Newman and Brownless and the deplorable history that the show has in dealing with women ( Newman's comments to those female footballers a few weeks ago was a disgrace) and the fact that the AFL footy show needs a revamp (desperately), are there any suggestions as to any females who might be able take their place legitimately as a panel member, to give the show some form of credibility??

My suggestion: Rebecca Maddern (ch 7) Heard her on SEN  recently and was amazed at her football knowledge. I think she's the No 1 ticket holder at Geelong.

We can justifiably criticize the NRL on some issues but when comparing the two shows, the NRL are a mile ahead.

The G turns 162! Do you remember?
Posted by: townsendcalling - 09-23-2015, 11:43 AM - Forum: The Sports Desk - Replies (1)

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/happy-b...7540257095

This article appeared in the HS looking back over those special moments at the G.  I know that there are many 'G lovers', like myself on the site.  How many of the 25 did you witness?

I can count 10. Most memorable... Kerryn McCann's finish of the Comm Games marathon, full house going nuts that got her across the line.  (I wasn't there for EJ unfortunately)

"The lead changed six times in the final 2km as McCann battled Kenyan Hellen Koskei in a sprint for the finish. After the runners entered the MCG, McCann took the lead in the last 200m and the stadium erupted in delight as she won by the small margin of just two seconds.

Sadly, the mother of two, who had defended her title from Manchester in 2002, faced a much tougher challenge a year later.

After giving birth to another child, she lost her fight against cancer and died in 2008 aged 41."

Even without the sad post script, it was a magic moment!!

Are we officially over Wayne Carey??
Posted by: townsendcalling - 09-19-2015, 12:51 AM - Forum: Blah-Blah Bar - Replies (11)

Isn't this all ancient history now.  Like any such situation, it will always be conflicting versions of 'he said / she said'  Just waiting for Carey's ex Sally, to give her side of the story and we're about done!!

Apparently we forgive and forget our high profile sporting personalities very quickly. Carey has never been so media busy!

Folks
This is a really frustrating time to be a Carlton supporter.
Bottom of the ladder...uncertainty over player movements etc
That's starting to show through in some of the posting which is getting quite personal.
Now we can take a really hard line on it, and start being a bit ruthless with some of the behaviour but it would be preferable it if people just took a deep breath and took a minute before posting.
Opinions as to our plight and the reasons for it are quite varied with blame being allocated from ex-coaches to the board...the thing is that these have been really done to death.
The sides have well and truly been chosen, most regulars know exactly where people stand in relation to subjects like the Board and Malthouse....... and the debate is really pointless because no-one will change their mind when the tactic is to abuse and belittle.
As I said elsewhere, it's reached the "silly" stage.
If you look back on most threads you don't need to go back more than a page before the Board or Malthouse get a mention.

Well Malthouse ceased to be our coach months ago and any influence will diminish with each week.
The board are pretty much there to stay in the short term because there is no-one putting their hand up to take their place.
Continue to discuss them by all means but there are appropriate threads to discuss them in....they don't need to sidetrack every thread.
