Have been so impressed with their attitudes and frankly their athleticism! Just extraordinary.

I don't have a clue what they pour into the pot, but they must be hurting badly.  No doubt many other clubs are in the same boat.

Anyone else notice a ‘cone of silence’ has been dropped over the media in terms of any news regarding the extended layoff of Mark Robinson from 360 and the Herald Sun?

I was reading this article from Sen (NRL) and took note of the quote from Andrew Johns. It was in regards to the ongoing failures dogging the Newcastle Knights over the last 20 years (sound familiar).

The article:

Andrew believes the youth development across the entirety of rugby league is an issue but believes it’s one of the Knights’ major issues.

“I think it’s a problem across the game,” said Andrew.
“But it’s a big problem in Newcastle.”
Andrew also praised Phil Gould’s words on how to implement a proper youth system into a club.
“Phil Gould spoke about building a club,” he explained.
“You have got to build a team, build a club where the players come through together and they have to care and love the club.
“At Penrith, he set up the junior pathway system and how they want to coach.
“And now you look at their first grade team, Dylan Edwards, Brian To’o, Stephen Crichton, Nathan (Cleary), (Jarome) Luai, (Isaah) Yeo, (Liam) Martin.
“All have kicked on and played rep footy because of the junior structure in which Phil Gould oversaw and told this is the way we’re playing.
“He had to make big decisions on coaches, we’re going to coach our juniors skillswise and how to play so that they understand the Penrith way of playing.”

I highlighted what I consider to be some of our biggest failings as a club and we seem to consistently make the same mistakes. Maybe this is why our culture is so poor. We simply have not invested in it.

With us failing to make the finals again, and failing to to win a premiership for the 25th year, I was wondering we thought of the season. Was there anything we learnt about our future? Are we headed in the right direction> What haven't we learnt from 2021?

I am sure there will be a lot to say. I know I have a bit on my mind.

I'm hoping for a better turnout of voters. The last few weeks there haven't been many, not even for our wins.
I also hope the guys can do enough to deserve a few votes. It would be a nice change from last week's debacle.

Voting is as usual: you have 15 votes to award pretty much as you will, with the following provisos:
[1] 15 votes in total, no more, no less.
[2] No more than 10 votes for any one player (even Sam Walsh)
[3] Three players at least must get a mention.
[4] A grade for the game, A+ (what I want to see) to F-.

Someone has to play well.

I have let things go a little lately. I was hoping for late voting. But that is about as likely as Teague keeping his job for 2022 at this point.  I will tidy things up soon.
As to who has won, well that is also a certainty. Sam Walsh could no more lose than we can win this year's premiership. Doesn't mean the minor places are not close. Your vote this week could make all the difference.

I hope we can pull one more good game out for Eddie and Levi, but I'm not holding my breath. Not after last week.
