Hey guys!! So I haven't been on this forum for a long time now, and I apologise if a thread of a similar sort has already been started.
After watching only one game (round 1) and being 3 rounds in I am claiming that I am "over" footy. Now I love the blue boys through and through. When they came to my hometown I stalked them haha for two days and got as many signatures and photos as I could. I love the club and an proud of its history. I bleed Navy!
So, I was wondering if there had been a general concensus as to what the heck is going on!? The first quarter of round 1 was a different Carlton. They were tackling aggressively, running through the corridor, reading the play excellently. Then the old Carlton reared its ugly head for the rest of the match. So, Is it the list? Do I just have my navy blue lenses on and think that my team is capable of achieving more when in reality they can't? Is it the coaching staff? Pls explain.

We may have failed to defeat the Drug Cheats this week, but today's game was a considerable improvement over the 1st 2 rounds. There is still a lot of improvement before we actually become a good team, but that is another issue.
It is time again to reward some lucky players for their hard work. There should be a considerably larger spread of votes as well.
Remember:
[1] At least 3 players need to get a mention.
[2] No more than 10 votes for any one player.
[3] Give a rating of team performance. It can be anywhere from A+ to F and will probably be nearer the latter.
[4] Votes must add up to 15.
I am almost certain the default rating will not be an "F" this time around.

Our effort rating was 5.96, just under and E. Call it an E-. Quite justified and not as good as in Round #1.
We had 17 voters this week, only 1 different to this time last year. Somehow I think that shows we started pretty poorly then as well.
So, to the nitty gritty:
Round #2: Carlton vs. West Coast in Perth.
Docherty, Sam 226
Judd, Chris 170
Simpson, Kade 156
Everitt, Andrejs 156
Gibbs, Bryce 72
Tuohy, Zach 42
Casboult, Levi 30
Yarran, Chris 23
Bell, Tom 12
Wood, Cameron 4
Ellard, David 2
Murphy, Marc 2
This is a very small spread of votes, which suggest, correctly, that we had relatively few contributors. That Judd could vote so well when he only did well in 1 quarter also reflects poorly on his team mates (although it does say something about that one quarter of total brilliance).
It is good to see Docherty making an impression and Everitt's vastly improved performance was appreciated by the voters.
I am a little surprised to see such little appreciation for Ellard, who did his job much better than his team mates. My only explanation is that while he did a good negative job, he just didn't get enough of the ball himself to make an impression. I think we are all agreed that he may not be on the list next year, with a major rebuild underway.
Progressive Votes:
541 - Docherty, Sam (0)
346 - Judd, Chris (0)
249 - White, Simon (0)
199 - Simpson, Kade (0)
157 - Everitt, Andrejs (0)
99 - Gibbs, Bryce (0)
71 - Bell, Tom (0)
61 - Wood, Cameron (0)
43 - Tuohy, Zach (0)
41 - Carrazzo, Andrew (0)
30 - Casboult, Levi (0)
30 - Yarran, Chris (0)
8 - Henderson, Lachie (0)
6 - Menzel, Troy (0)
3 - Curnow, Edward (0)
3 - Jones, Liam (0)
2 - Ellard, David (0)
2 - Murphy, Marc (0)
Docherty is a comfortable leader at this point, in front of Judd. This suggests that we really are going to miss Judd when he retires, something that will happen sooner rather than later.
I am hoping for an improved performance this week against the Drug Cheats. But my expectations are not high.

We are not going to play finals, that is a fact.
We are about to embark on a rebuild, that is also a fact.
We have a dilapidated list, that is an undeniable fact.
Therefore, it is my belief that Mick Malthouse should give every one of the older fringe players on the list the chance to redeem themselves or better still, drastically improve their perceived trade value.
Watson, Jones, Tutt, Carrazzo, Armfield, Ellard, Tuohy, Jamison, Rowe, Warnock & Walker can withstand the rigours of senior footy, they have the fitness base & body development for that.
Whilst it is great to see Cripps, Smith and others in the seniors, just give them three game bursts and then send them back to the seconds, we don't want to blow them out just yet. Besides, there is every chance that they will be playing way more senior footy next year anyway.
I am not interested in wins this season, all I care about is (a) getting the #1 pick in the draft, (b) looking after the nucleus of young players we have at the club, & © giving those older players one last chance to redeem themselves.

C: Marcon Jolley Wheeler
HF: Banner Clouston Dunell
F: A. Carr* Tighe E. Carr
R: Meese Johnstone Bugeja
Int: Gallucci Critchley Sing Chisari Bese Gibbons Conway McKenzie Anastasio
The opening game of the season at Ikon Park. Our team looks as good as it is going to get, but I expect a number of changes. I am not sure on Warnock's fitness and I would think it a miracle if Jaksch played after damaging his ribs.
Without Warnock we are toast, as there simply isn't a class ruckman available. However, we will see who lines up.
