Billy Slater is possibly one knock on his shoulder away from being out for the rest of the year but chooses to play in a match that, in terms of his club season, means nothing.
Who doesn't get it, us or them???

2:10 at Ikon Park (Princes Park) on Saturday 20th June.
Hopefully we can come back from the bye with a few more guys on the field, although losing Warnock, Judd and Thomas in 1 week is pretty debilitating. Jamison, Byrne and Gibbs coming back will strengthen things a little. There will be a few guys coming back from the seniors and looking for a quick return.
Aurrichio still looks like the only ruckman, although Bolger did well in the development team last week. But if Werribee have anything like a decent ruck brigade, then we are starting at a considerable disadvantage.

One of my favourite sports people when I was younger.
Lots of records but never quite cracked the big one.
Still a champion.
Quote:Emil Zatopek had great admiration for Ron Clarke. In 1968 he invited the Australian to Czechoslovakia, and as a parting gift he gave him his 1952 Olympic 10,000 m gold medal with the following words: “Not out of friendship but because you deserve it.

(He did have some dark family secrets...his father and brother played for Essendon.
Brother Jack was a premiership captain and coached against us in 1968. We won!)

We play another Saturday afternoon game and we are not on TV: I guess we had best get used to having a smaller TV profile with our results this year. 1:40 start at the MCG: a token to have had Port Adelaide play on the MCG before the finals come around.
Our first game in the Post Judd Era: it will be interesting to see if we can produce the same intensity as we did against Adelaide, We could be a chance.
WE should get a few guys back: Jamo, Gibbs, Byrne, to mention a few. Should we bring them straight back in, or make only a few changes? There are good reasons to return them slowly. After all, the week afterwards we play Gold Coast at Etihad and GC barely have an effective playing list. Then again, they might be getting some guys back as well.
Do we want to win badly enough to select the team that can do it? After all, from now on, losing is winning at the draft table.
Personally, I REALLY want to develop a winning culture and a winning game plan, some of the unfulfilled promise of the Malthouse Administration. But are we going to get it?
To look at form, Port should kill us. However, they are only a shadow of what they were last year and teams have managed to work them out a bit. Have we managed to work them out? Do we have the game plan or the cattle to do the job?
Say tune to Saturday's game to get the answers to these and other vital questions!

Today we may have seen the end of Chris Judd. However, we have seen something of a rebirth of Carlton spirit. In the end we couldn't get over the line, but we deserved to get over the line. In many ways this was our best effort for the year.
Well, now it is time to reward those who deserved a mention.
Remember:
[1] At least 3 players need to get a mention.
[2] No more than 10 votes for any one player.
[3] Give a rating of team performance. It can be anywhere from A+ to F.
[4] Votes must add up to 15.
