Jim Park Voting: Round 14: Carlton vs. Gold Coast
Posted by: crashlander - 06-28-2015, 11:57 AM - Forum: Robert Heatley Stand - Replies (19)

It was an impressive day at Etihad for the 1st time this year.

Remember:
[1] At least 3 players need to get a mention.
[2] No more than 10 votes for any one player.
[3] Give a rating of team performance. It can be anywhere from A+ to F.
[4] Votes must add up to 15.

I'll put my 2 cents worth in tomorrow. In the mean time, enjoy!

The Next Incarnation Of Our "Engine Room"
Posted by: LordLucifer - 06-22-2015, 10:40 AM - Forum: Robert Heatley Stand - Replies (37)

A few years back, the scribes were suggesting we had one of the best midfields in the competition. However, things have dramatically changed since then especially with Judd retiring & Carrazzo about to retire at season's end plus the recent rollercoaster formline from Murphy & Gibbs.

The thing is, we are not that far away once again from fielding a very strong "Engine Room" and it all may have come about by sheer chance as opposed to some very good planning.

Patty Cripps playing standard is rising by the week (heaven help the competition in another 2-3 years time), Marc Murphy appears to be back playing at the same level he was prior to that horrible broken cheekbone he suffered in a collision with Hodge.

Nick Graham has relished his opportunity in the seniors and is making bone-rattling tackles a feature of his game, Dennis Armfield is another who has really stepped it up across the middle of the ground as well as making regular sorties into the forward line,

Tom Bell is now offering some genuine consistency with way less poor decision-making than he previously was (something I genuinely didn't think was ever going to happen) plus the move of playing him more permanently across half-forward suits him and the team better as well.

All we need now is for Mark Whiley to force his way into the seniors (I have extremely high expectations for this chap) and for Gibbs to play with some genuine vigour (possibly wishful thinking) and we are going to be in a damn strong position.

If the recruiting department can bring in two more silky ball magnets in the upcoming draft & trade period, we would end up having a midfield division that at worst, is the equal of any of the other clubs in the competition.

Amazing what a few good weeks onfield can do for a supporters viewpoint !!

Hi All

Was just wondering if there is an 'official' supporters group in Adelaide?

Thanks
Michael

Sunday June 28, Etihad Stadium

I'm sure most of us must be feeling at least a little confident that we can win this, making it 2 in a row.

  Why So Different??
Posted by: townsendcalling - 06-20-2015, 11:47 PM - Forum: Robert Heatley Stand - Replies (112)

One aspect of our game that we used to lament was our accuracy in front of goal, missing key shots at critical times.

Across the season, we have kicked
11.12
9.8
11.18
18.13
6.9
11.9
9.3  (GWS smashed us)
9.9
9.8

Yet the last 2 weeks, when we have played aggressive, creative, entertaining football, we have kicked
14.6 and 17.8

Can a change in gameplan make us more accurate??

Murphy's goal in the 3rd quarter probably would have been a miss 6 weeks ago, but yesterday it was a captain's goal at a critical time!

It has been quite a long time since my brain had a good dose of dopamine. Well, I got one today! A win for the Blues and a win for the Baby Blues and some of the best football we've played in the last 3 years! If ever we needed to justify the departure of Michael Malthouse, today was it. I won't get carried away: I'll wait until later in this thread.  Smile) Smile) Smile) ;D ;D ;D
This week's voting should be a much happier affair! Enjoy!
