Round 20: Carlton vs Brisbane In Game Anxiety
Posted by: crashlander - 08-15-2015, 07:42 AM - Forum: Robert Heatley Stand - Replies (73)

With the game not being on free to air TV tonight, I am not going to see a single minute of it, win, lose or draw. So, with the game about to start, I thought I'd start up the In Game Thread.
Those of you who are seeing the game, I hope you can enjoy it. I will sitting and stewing in my own juices.

VFL Round 18: Northern Blues (2nds) vs. Sandringham at Carlton

Northern Blues vs. Sandringham

Sunday, Aug 16
IKON Park at 2.00pm

Northern Blues

B: J. Roberts Fields Yarran
HB: Johnston Walton Rice
C: Tutt Cattapan Viojo
HF: Armitage Jones Murray
F: Wilson Watson Johnson
R: Wood Menzel J. Gleeson
Int: Soncin McDonagh* Aujla Strachan Dirago Haynes Bolger Ballard Kilpatrick

Sandringham
B: Le Grice Delaney Cook
HB: Murdoch Simpkin Shenton
C: Ray Jones Markworth
HF: Siposs M.Brown Zijai
F: Dennis-Lane Membrey Saad
R: Holmes Templeton Schneider
Int: Payne Kreymborg Pierce Noone Verma Ong Weickhardt White O.Jones*

Their team looks more like St. Kilda seniors compared to ours. With the game in Brisbane, it is questionable about how many of the emergencies play. That doesn't leave much at all.

Rice gets a 2nd go and we could probably do with about 3 of him. My God, have we fewer Carlton listed players available?

Tony Smith, the new speaker of the House of Representatives, is a Carlton man

Quote:Tony is a lifelong, fanatical supporter of the Carlton Football Club. He is also a patron on the Croydon Football Club (which coincidentally wear the Carlton jumper).

Can we afford a Carlton VFL team?
Posted by: Lods - 08-09-2015, 08:55 AM - Forum: Robert Heatley Stand - Replies (9)

....or rather can we afford not to have one.

We need to be able to try players in multiple positions under match conditions without having any regard for results.

Our players need to be able to progress to senior football having practiced an developed their roles in a secondary competition.

There needs to be total control over team selection and positioning in our 'reserves' side by the senior coaching panel.

If this isn't existing under the present arrangement we need to go it alone.

R20 Brisbane v Carlton - Battle for the Spoon
Posted by: ItsOurTime - 08-09-2015, 06:42 AM - Forum: Robert Heatley Stand - Replies (95)

Friday, 14 August

With Gold Coast coming away with the points against Brisbane last night, the loser will most likely be awarded the spoon at the end of the year.

Brisbane wins and we are then in a race for the lowest percentage (there has been an incredible amount of percentage lost by Carlton already)

Brisbane lose and they'll have locked away last place you'd imagine.

Expect some selection shenanigans.

Jim park Voting: Round 19: Carlton vs Collingwood
Posted by: crashlander - 08-08-2015, 09:41 AM - Forum: Robert Heatley Stand - Replies (19)

It wasn't a great game, but it was an improvement over what we have been producing. It doesn't say much for Collingwood either, that they can only put us away by 3 goals when we had so little talent on the park. Nichevo.

Remember:
[1] At least 3 players need to get a mention.
[2] No more than 10 votes for any one player.
[3] Give a rating of team performance. It can be anywhere from A+ to F.
[4] Votes must add up to 15.

Another honorable loss.

I'm kind of starting to enjoy these honorable losses. As a supporter, I sort of understand how the players must feel. You get accustomed to it, and it kind of feels normal.

:o Am I blind or is there no pregame discussion? Against Collingwood of all teams!

This will be the lowest attended game since the suburban days if interest reflects what I'm hearing around the place.
