Both Collingwood and us have named pretty strong teams. Declase was probably a bit stiff to be dropped. However, it is VERY good to see Gussy Sheahan back. Hopefully he can stay on the park. Lamb and Sumner are also back from injury.

This week is going to be very hard work. We had a LOT of players who made a real contribution. Congratulations to Alex Silvagni for a win in his 1st game and a brilliant effort in smothering a guy who usually kills us.

The Meat Pies are playing Geelong this afternoon. They then have 6 days until we greet them at the MCG next Saturday.
I hope we give them the sort of reception that becomes a Pie Eating Competition!

  Green Shoot of the Week
Posted by: townsendcalling - 04-29-2017, 11:56 AM - Forum: Robert Heatley Stand - Replies (43)

Considered starting this last week, trying to extract a positive from a negative and using our coach's vernacular...Green Shoots.

Choose ONE ONLY Green Shoot you observed from the game.  Can be a player, passage of play and individual effort, any ONE Shoot that put a smile ???? on your face.

I'll start off with 'The fearless willingness of Zac Fisher.' No a great game, but you can put on weight, bulk up, gain strength etc, but you can't teach courage. He's got determination and courage.

Worthy of a Green Shoot acknowledgement.

Apart from a couple of neat passages, what a god awful game. Swans can't mark or kick to save themselves. We look half decent.

Sam Newman reckons that we are the worst performed team in the last decade.
Posted by: crashlander - 04-28-2017, 05:38 AM - Forum: Blah-Blah Bar - Replies (10)

I found this topic appearing on some of the Carlton Facebook sites.
Apparently Sam has some statistics to back up his claim. I am not willing to just call him a dunce, even though he is.
My question is, if he is correct, then where are our priority picks?

I am not saying we are the worst performed side, but it is true that we have struggled for some years. Brisbane and Melbourne would be the ones giving us a run for our money. I am sure I could finagle some statistics to show that any of the 3 mentioned teams might fit that criterion.

So, should we take this data to the AFL and ask for some priority picks? The AFL have not exactly been helpful in the past when it comes to providing assistance to us. Should we rub their noses in this crap? Will it help?

As I said, when I looked at this 'discussion', I took it for what is was: an idiot opening his mouth and letting hot air out. I have long given up getting sensible answers from certain areas. But if this is what the run of the mill supporter thinks, can we use it to our advantage? Or do we let the hot air spread out until it has gone?
