Rob Monahan - If playing at CHF perhaps a big ask for a boy who didn't grow up playing the game.
Wonder if he's had a run at CHB? That straight ahead role would seem a better position to learn the game.
However, interested to hear views from those who have seen him play. Sounds like he has some talent.

It's traditional to play Irish recruits off the half back line and I think that it's worth trying a different approach with Monahan.  He's playing as a flanker rather than CHF and he has the speed and agility to do well in that role.  Some of his field kicking is outstanding in terms of the degree of difficulty and execution.

The problem as I see it is that we're relying on a bloke who has never played the game before with some teammates in their first season out of junior footy and some with a bit more experience at VFL or lower levels.  He's bound to make errors and there's no old head to point him in the right direction.

A lot to like athletically and shows footskills but raw as raw can be.  Monahan reminds me a bit of Colin Corkery who had a stint in the 2s but went home and became a star Gaelic player.  Tall quick goal-kicking wingman I think could have been anything if he'd persevered with us.
