Jailed for 3 months

When, inevitably, some anti-vaxxers are caught using forged vaccination certificates or exemptions, I wonder if jail sentences for them will be welcomed or condemned.

The funny thing is that the 2 guys who went to the Grand Final would probably have regarded it as something akin to a college prank. They would have assumed people would think it was just laddish behaviour like streaking after getting drunk and would have rolled around laughing. Otherwise, they might not have been keen on posing for pictures or posting pictures on social media.

I just want to clarify that I think their offense is serious.

BUT, in a situation where they cannot legally do something like this to witness what can only be described as currently a once in a lifetime opportunity, I understand WHY they did it.

Consider it an opportunity lost between the states.

Imagine stating that you could come to WA for the grand final if you had proof you were fully vaccinated.

It would have had people lining up for their jabs months ago.

I think they planned to do it legit like the cats and Tiger fans last year quarantining in NT but then when that wasn't allowed they still went ahead with it.

Interesting, is that protesting for freedom from a position of oppression or a position of privilege?

The question is.....do they think it is worth it?

They could quite conceivably say yes.

The defense lawyer playing the Mental Health card is a f#ckwit though. Mental health is a serious issue but these two flogs knew exactly what they were doing and were deceptive in every way...even forging NT documents. Hopefully the NT judicial system dispenses its own justice and their penalties are served separately from this 3 month stint in jail. Maybe a few Bulldogs supporters inside can give them a bit of payback.

I think you'd be hard pressed to find somone who hasnt had mental health impacted by the pandemic.

I'm happy to put my hand up and say that it's had no impact on me.  But then I was forced to do National Service and had virtually no contact with family and friends for almost two years while living and working in a very challenging environment.  Fortunately, I didn't have people firing live rounds at me.  They said it would make a man out of me - perhaps it did  :Smile

Seriously though, the pandemic may have impacted on the mental health of some folk but most of my family, friends, neighbours, acquaintances, etc are sailing along and making the best of it.  I guess it's a resilience thing.
