Paddy Dow is a completely different body shape and his strength proved handy on several occasions. It was a very welcome return to form and with some new tools in the kit.
It was good to see O'Brien and Stocker get a run, even if they were cameo appearances. Stocker looks stronger than ever. I reckon Jack Martin has the most relaxed and fluid goal kicking action. It may not suit everyone but it would be good if some of our dodgier goal kickers could learn from him. And, speaking of goal kicking, Harry's sports psychologist seems to have done a decent job with him.

This is now the longest premiership drought in the history of the Carlton Football Club - more evidence of climate change?

One big and very noticeable difference was Saad. When he puts his foot to the metal, he has seriously fast wheels.
When I think of the glacier-like movement we are used to out of the backline, his run brings a whole new dimension. Those further up the ground need to learn how to present better so he has some decent options.

I watched him a bit at U18 level and he was impressive but up till now has disappointed but how it was described he played today was how he played in the TAC cup. |
