For a club with a supposed guru in charge of fitness we haven't exactly had a dream run with injuries.
If someone is listed as a 2 week injury it is very common to see them miss 4-5.
Gov had a second preseason last year which saw him only fit for the last couple of rounds. He has reinjured his hammy this week.
McKay is in and out as he reinjures his knee every 5 minutes.
Curnow clearly came back too early and stress fractures appeared in his knee.
SOS is reinjuring himself every 5 minutes.
That's just off the top of my head.
What's going on? I thought Russell was supposed to be good - at the minute he barely looks competent?

An important, and unanswerable question is, what would the shape of our list be without him?
His credentials are impeccable Jeza Old Son. Some blokes are just injury prone or have done all the wrong training for many years and The Terrier has to correct past errors in body physiology/shape to handle the rigours of AFL footy long term... and that can take time.
Only our ruthless best, from Board to bootstudders will get us no. 17

From that draft in 2015 where we took Weitering, Curnow, McKay and Cunningham all in the top 20 or so......would be curious to know how many games all 4 have played in together?.....couldn't be many with Weitering the only one not regularly injured.

Loved watching those Syd Jackson videos floating around the club website and the web.
When I was a little tacker, along-side Doull and Barassi, Syd was probably one of my big all time favourites. So skilled, so cool under pressure, smooth as silk across the turf, like watching McLeod or Yarran cruise through the midfield, but no doubt a tougher version as he had to deal with quite a bit more "attention" back in those days, as the older folk know if you got a run-on back then you we quickly given a handicap!

I once had a good chat with Syd many years ago now at a club GF eve function at the Hyatt (we weren't in the GF btw). Hell of a nice guy. Spoke to many other players too, Johnno, Mark Naley, Rhys, and others. Turned into a VERY big night. ????
Reality always wins in the end.

Had a few beers with him as well. Asked him about the Don Jolley game GF whistle swap for his premiership jumper. Also reminded him of his pouring rain drop kick for a goal at Princes Park against South in the 70s. He couldn't recall it at all and said "how do you remember that"?
I simply said "I marked it Syd!" So another beer was had.

Met him when I was a kid growing up in Bunbury in the late 70's watching a South Bunbury game.....he was back in WA and back home watching his beloved Tigers...where it all started. It was such an honour to meet him.
