Yep, definitely had a good game. 3 goals, 9 marks.

Any talk of Weitering or Simpson being back line generals or holding the back line together are premature at best, erroneous at worst. The difference Docherty makes to that back 6 could be spotted from the moon. Those bloody knees cost Bolton his job.

Agreed. Best back flanker we have had since Andrew McKay.

Imagine Doc’s  frustration sitting on the bench every week watching different things unfold, knowing how to overcome then but not being able to do anything about it himself.

1. The commentators were barracking for Essendon. They wanted the victory against adversity to be real. Now the narrative is Carlton are on the rise. Turn off the sound on TV and just watch the vision.
2. Worsfold claim their list is similar to Carlton's in age demographic and games played is a case of using a statistic to deflect. To understand a list you need to look at who is not playing. We had Dow (Pick 3), O'Brien (Pick 10), Kennedy (Pick 13), McKay (Pick 10), De Konning (Pick 30), Stocker (Pick 13), Kemp (Pick 17), Marchbank (Pick 6), Fisher (Pick 27), Curnow (Pick 12) and Goddard (Pick 19). I am not sure Essendon, or anyone else, has that young talent depth. As Silvagni said, it is easy to get a list to the middle.
3. The 50 meter penalty will be ticked off by the AFL as it always does. Umpires are criminals and the AFL is the Mafia
4. We need to kick those goals. Could have won by three or four goals easily. Kept Essendon in it.
5. The next few weeks will be important. We will need to get ahead of the W-L count.

We did go 6-5 in the second half of last year under Teague without Docherty.

Murphy cops a lot on here yet it was his skills that set up our last 2 goals when we were looking for someone senior to lift.

He maybe at the end of his career but he is still important to us - has his flaws but we don’t exactly have in spades those who when the game is on the line can pinpoint a pass under pressure like he can.

Cunningham casboult doc all played big games but Murphy’s last 5 mins were just as important to secure the win.
