One of those teams has a midfield rotation of Judd, Murphy, Gibbs, Carrazzo and Cripps.
The other doesn't!

I think the old team would probably win.
As a result of my deliberation I've just been looking at our 2018 list and trying to work out who are our strategic players for the future and who are those who will only be with us for the transitional period. Obviously there are plenty of uncertainties apart from the ones who will be coming up for retirement, but I believe will will probably need to turn over at least 30% of our current list before we are likely to have a list capable of challenging for a flag. Not sure how long this will take and the names of those who will be discarded are obviously debatable, and as I say in some cases uncertain, but it looks like there will be quite a bit of pain ahead still.
Reality always wins in the end.

The 2015 team would win. More experienced and Judd would drag them over the line. Carrots would harass and intimidate most of the 2018 team barring Cripps. We have a long way to go.

On current form our 2015 team wouldn't even get on the Park.
Let's face it, the names are pie in the sky stuff. Had we gone down this road in 2012 when we should have we might have come out the other side already.

But the idea behind a rebuild is to create a better combination. If you use that 2015 side as your baseline (it's when we first suggested we'd rebuild)... are we back to where we started or do we still have a way to go? I don't think we are yet...I'll concede we might have a foundation to quickly improve....however there's also a chance many of that group that played this weekend won't make it. |
