VFL Practice match: Northern Blues vs Port Melbourne at Preston
#1
This Saturday, 2nd of April, at the Preston City Oval the NBs get their last warmup against Port Melbourne. Both levels get a go.
There appears to be some confusion about the starting times, though. The NB website had the games starting at 1000 and 1300 respectively. Port had the games starting at 1100 and 1400.

It will be interesting to see who plays and to see whether any of the emergencies play at all. With Carlton playing at 1640 on Sunday I expect us to keep Sydney guessing.

It appears that one team has turned their clocks back a day early?

Lachie Plowman to play a half. Looking forward to that!

Likewise. He might prove to be our surprise package. Here's hoping anyway :Smile

Not a surprise at all.

A #3 DRAFT pick in 2012 - had that serious elbow injury in 2014/15 - just bad luck i gather (but see below link.....?  :o). Every chance he'll be an absolute gun.

Very highly rated player. Now 193cm, 90KG +

Quote:Cannons coach Marty Allison said Plowman was a "very, very special player" and praised his ability to change tack during the course of a match.

"There's no doubt in my mind he would have been the All-Australian centre half-back and up there as the player of the carnival if not for his injury," he said.

Kyte said if Plowman had played a full season he might have rivalled Lachie Whitfield for the No.1 pick, and backed Plowman to develop midfield capabilities.

The NB website has listed the squad for the weekend's game:

1. Tom Wilson,
2. Jack Silvagni,
3. David Cuningham,
4. Sam Russell,
7. Dylan Buckley,
11. Kieran McGuinness,
14. Liam Jones,
15. Andrew Phillips,
17. Sam Rowe,
18. Daniel Gorringe,
23. Hisham Kerbatieh,
26. Matthew Dick,
31. Jayden Foster,
33. Matthew Wright,
34. Jesse Glass-McCasker,
36. Cameron Wood,
38. Billy Gowers,
42. Mark Whiley,
44. Lachie Plowman,
46. Liam Sumner,
48. Kristian Jaksch,
51. Jed Lamb,
56. Andrew Gallucci,
58. Charlie Curnow,
59. Ciaran Byrne,
65. Dillon Viojo-Rainbow,
67. Clem Smith,
76. Jason Tutt

The reserves for the senior side have to be taken out of this list.
Plowman will probably only get half a game. Sumner will probably get a little more, maybe 3 quarters. Foster may not get a full game either, as he is 'recovering'.
A couple of guys from last week have been dropped back: quite a surprise, considering how they played. Tim Totevski was raved about on the website, but he is not named in this list. He is definitely going to play half a game.

Looking forward to this one. Being the final pre season hit out for both clubs this should have good intensity.
