Post Game Passion: AFL 2019 Rd : Carlton vs. Western Bulldogs

Fly...Look at the DE% stats.....Fisher, SPS, Cripps, Walsh etc, that was top use of the footy by us....you add a top game by a key forward and that adds up to a win.

Libba is a clown on and off the field and needs a clip, glad we didnt recruit him or his mate Wallis who were both garbage today.

I hope to get to see the game during the week, so I can vote.

Just looking at the stats, I'd say that Kreuzer probably beat his man, even though he had less taps. English is going to be a player. But the Big Tractor is coming back after injury having played about 2/3 of a game in the VFL. He will get better. We will play better when he gets fitter.

But until we get a Grundy or a Gawn we will not win a premiership. I hate that thought. I have hopes for Tom deKoning, but he is a 19 year old kid. We need to find the next star ruckman and sooner rather than later.

That said, I am so happy to read that SPS was so good today. I am almost as pleased that Gibbons did well. I really hope out midfield can repeat this effort most weeks.
The stats show English had more hit outs, but I would suggest Kreuzer spent quite a lot of time out of the ruck.

Casboult also had 8 hit outs and seemed to go against English a fair bit.

Importantly, as a team we won the hitouts and smashed them at clearances.

I think we've all known if we tidied up our ball use we would start getting results.

Bad ball use = turnovers = cheap goals to the other guys (and demoralises our own).
Finals, then 4 in a row!

Absolutely spot on. They had all the skill - none of the hunger.

Just on SPS today, he played with some urgency today which made me smile like a cheshire cat. More of that next week Samo, and the week after that, the week after that etc.
On Cripps, just had control of the game and his players, was directing traffic and providing instructions/feedback all day. Maturity beyond his years.
Now to do it all again next week.

A win can do wonders upstairs. Especially as that has such an influence downstairs  Smile
Maybe enough to start building some belief in winning.  Although I acknowledge the players (I.e. Jones, Weiters) have been saying it's building.

Coming together is the beginning.
Keeping together is progress.
Working together is success.

Deep in the last quarter everyone is still battling their guts out - he's already clearly switched off mentally. We've done enough to win so I'll start to cheat out the back and throw a few millionaire kicks in.

It only annoyed me because I was so keen for us to kick 100+ but it was so obvious. One forward 50 entry he just threw the ball onto his boot - went absolutely nowhere near his target. Under limited pressure it just illustrated that he was done for the day and couldn't care less. I'm glad he ran hard today but a good player just wouldn't do that.

mml.  Run off his feet.  Murph was great today.  Worked over Hunter and had 28, 9 marks and a goal.

A lot of good players today,  underlines that team efforts are what win games. Good job all round. We know what these blokes can do,  it's about consistency now.

Four quarters from SPS,  can't ask for more.  Massive hurt factor.

Jack was very damaging today,  those little gives,  blocks,  tap ons etc contributed to a swag of scores today. Assists are an important stat.

Idiotic team selection from the bullies though, they won't underestimate Harry again. And Trengove was BOG in the VFL.
DrE is no more... you ok with that harmonica man?

Murphy could have 40 disposals and kick 5 goals and someone would find fault  :Smile

With the distance he covered today and the speed he maintained, it’s inevitable that his effectiveness would drop off towards the end of the game.  If anything, he probably should have spent a little longer on the pine.

It's such a simple thing.

Harry kicked 4.3 (should have had 5).
Levi kicked 3.0
Jack kicked 1.1
McGovern kicked 1.1
9 goals 5 from forwards.

The Bulldogs kicked themselves out of the match imho.

7 goals 15, to 15 goals 11.

Theres no pressure like scoreboard pressure.
