  Yarra Valley Water..Dont Drink

Storm has damaged the chlorination process at Silvan Dam and the water is unfit to drink....boil water first and then cool before drinking. Affects folk in the Eastern suburbs of Melbourne....

This topic should fire up the oh so spotted one and I Iook forward to what he has to say.
I wanted to start with the Olympia Valance story that's been in the papers (ie nude photos leaked). I am always suspicious when young largely unknown (often out of work) singers/actresses come out in the press with stories that their "phones have been hacked". I remember when Paris Hilton's home videos were "stolen" in a burglary. Nek minute, the tapes are for sale with her blessing and she is the number media personality all of a sudden. Hmmmm.
Today, Olympia's stepfather, and dead to the world, Ross "Daddy Cool/Mondo Rock" Wilson comes out in the HS in "support" under  the headline "Olympia Valance’s stepfather Ross Wilson says she is relieved after revealing cyber crime". When you read the article, 5 very short paragraphs on Olympia's cyber crime story followed by 10 paragraphs and what this has been has been doing and up coming ventures, gigs, albums etc. Hmmmmm.

I thought folks who've been around the Carlton forums for some time will be sad to learn that Moshe (moshe25) passed away this morning.
He spent most of his time on TC in recent times but he was a great contributor to this forum in days gone by.
As well as keeping us honest in terms of spelling and grammar Wink  he also had the ability to keep us honest in terms of our excesses when we got over-enthusiastic in praise or criticism of club, coach and players.
A knowledgeable and insightful man
RIP

GWS has written a very nice, moving tribute on pge 2 of this thread on TC.

  Sir Doug Nicholls Round
Posted by: Gointocarlton - 08-22-2020, 09:20 AM - Forum: Robert Heatley Stand - Replies (6)

Whilst the plights of Carlton are our focus on this forum, I think it's very important we acknowledge Sir Doug Nicholls round in its entirety. I would like to acknowledge the wonderful Indigenous culture in this country, which I personally want to learn much more about, and the magnificently talented football players it has gifted us. We are blessed to have it and should respect and learn more from it.
It would be remiss of me to not acknowledge our current indigenous boys led by Eddie but also a past great in Syd Jackson who I have had the pleasure of meeting and finer gentleman and Carlton person you would be hard pressed to find.
Enjoy the round, enjoy the culture  and the joy it brings us, in this instance through football, not only today, but every day.
Cheers

So, we meet the Great Enemy again, at the 'Gabba on a Sunday afternoon after a 9 day break.
We will probably be on TV, for the 4th week on the trot.
The Meat Pies have had it over us in recent times, one of the signs we were in an ordinary patch. Can we break that trend? We have done some good trend breaking of late.

If we kick like we did last night, we might be a serious trouble.

Remember:
[1] 15 votes in total
[2] No more than 10 votes for any one player (even Cripps)
[3] Three players at least must get a mention.
[4] A grade for the game, A+ (what I want to see) to F-.

I hope we can produce tonight.

I find these Post Game threads the hardest to start, not knowing what the future may hold.
Whatever happens, I hope to see Eddie Betts in the goals. He hasn't kicked many of late. (He hasn't kicked any for 4 weeks!)

Here we go, our 1st Friday night game in a LONG time.
Which is probably good, seeing as we haven't won on Friday night since 2014!
We also struggle to win when we are on TV, and we are, for the 2nd week in a row.

Those are big handicaps to get over! Let's see if we can!

We need so badly to win this. And we're on free-to-air TV. It bodes poorly.
