AFL Rd 15 2023 Carlton have the bye!
Posted by: crashlander - 06-18-2023, 07:55 AM - Forum: Robert Heatley Stand - Replies (48)

Interesting to see what we do over the bye week. The bye has been lethal for some teams this year - coming back against a team who didn't have the bye has led to some embarrassing defeats. Should we be worried?

Jim Park Voting 2023 AFL Rd 14 Carlton vs Gold Coast
Posted by: crashlander - 06-16-2023, 11:40 AM - Forum: Robert Heatley Stand - Replies (13)

Voting is as usual: you have 15 votes to award pretty much as you will, with the following provisos:
[1] 15 votes in total, no more, no less.
[2] No more than 10 votes for any one player (even Sam Walsh or Patrick Cripps)
[3] Three players at least must get a mention.
[4] A grade for the game, A+ (what I want to see) to F-.

Hopefully we'll have guys to vote for.  Smile)

Hopefully we have some people who want to vote! We know what we have to do for that to be the case.

Remember to use this as soon as the game is over.
My expectations at pretty low at this point.

VFL 2023 Rd 13 Carlton vs Werribee at Werribee
Posted by: crashlander - 06-16-2023, 11:36 AM - Forum: Robert Heatley Stand - Replies (39)

We play Saturday at 14:05 in Werribee.
Team sheet not yet available, but Mirkov won't be there; he's having heart surgery!
Interesting to see if we play 2 rucks: hopefully one won't be Jack!

  What to do with Jack
Posted by: bobby - 06-11-2023, 03:30 AM - Forum: Robert Heatley Stand - Replies (15)

He's out ,in and out again. Time on ground 37% last week.

I think he's one of our smarter players in terms of finding space. I also think he loves playing for us as much or more than anyone. He stands up and flies the flag without question.

I think his best position is forward. Charlie and especially Harry are being mauled by multiple players and yet we still kick it to them. If Jack was given some time ply his trade as a smart forward presenting another option (he is very evasive I think) rather than be used as a swingman (that's how it appears to me) we and he would be better off.  I'm not sure that he has enough pace off the mark to be effective down the back and or in the middle. I swear I've seen players , knowing Silvagni is on their hammer, take that extra moment to gather themselves because they know they can burn him off. Floating around as a smart forward presenting options is his best role in my opinion.

I write this because it rips me up to see a capable, smart guy who wants to be out there, who leaves nothing out there not getting a run.

AFL Rd 14 2023 Pre Game Prognostications Carlton vs Gold Coast

Not confident about this one either. Gold Coast are playing well and Witts usually does well against us.
The Gold Coast mids are doing a much better job than ours are at the moment.

All ready for tomorrow night. I'll be at the game, but, with Pitto not coming up, I'm not confident at all.
