Not to forget, he helped revolutionise cricket in this country through WSC - painful yes, but a great leap forward in the end.

Yes, I'm not much of a cricket historian.

It's often reported that WSC was Kerry Packer's idea, but as I understand it was an idea John Cornell sold to KP who backed/underwrote it, is that understanding correct?

It was the most competitive cricket of that era.  Equally, it was good to finally see a reunification.  The ACB was a really tired outdated outfit
