Jim Park Voting: Rd 11: Carlton vs Brisbane
#9
I found this game quite difficult to vote for. There were a lot of conflicting ideas as to how we went and what we achieved, how consistent we were and how we coped with our (serious) structural problems.
In the end I went for:
Team: B
In the end, we won by 38 points, our biggest win in a long time against anyone, against a team which beat us twice last year and after we lost our ruckman and got smashed in the middle. I can’t complain, although I can look at our performance and think of ways to improve us.

Votes:
[2.5] Weitering
[2.5] Curnow
[2.5] Kerridge
[1.5] Docherty
[1.5] Tuohy
[1] Armfield
[1] Simpson
[1] Cripps
[0.5] Lamb
[0.5] Plowman
[0.5] White

Explanations:
[2.5] Weitering: Took on a couple of opponents, but mostly played on Schache and out-marked him consistently. 14 marks and an excellent display.
[2.5] Curnow: Did a job on his man while getting a lot of the ball himself and kicking one of the goals of the year. 12 tackles says a lot in itself.
[2.5] Kerridge: No the best start, but he really came to the party in his best effort in weeks. Disposal needs some work, but not as much as Robbo’s or Bell’s.
[1.5] Docherty: Didn’t get the ball as much as he has been, but totally ruled his position and kept his opponents worrying about him and not getting the ball themselves.
[1.5] Tuohy: One of his best games for the year. Excellent run out of defence.
[1] Armfield: Pace and excitement: a very solid game from Armfield.
[1] Simpson: Didn’t appear to be as prominent as he was, as he had 24 possessions, but solid. Great run and some nice interceptions.
[1] Cripps: Considering how we got smashed in the ruck, Cripps was excellent. He got centre breaks that were lethal, took some great marks and kicked nicely for goal.
[0.5] Lamb: 3 goals was a good reward.
[0.5] Plowman: Excellent in defence
[0.5] Byrne: Another very solid effort.

Honourable Mentions:
Rowe: Totally dominant in defence before going into the ruck and forward and competing well.
Walker: Didn’t have his kicking boots on, but did provide a fair bit.
Wright: Solid and dependable.
Gorringe: Tried hard in the ruck but impressed far more as a forward running player. He has excellent hands, very quick at moving the ball on and to great effect.
White: Solid and dependable. Took out his opponents.
Live Long and Prosper!
