Wherever you stand on the American election, there’s no way known that any candidate is a leftie, and the system ensures that eventuality. Both parties and both candidates are corporatists through and through. They don’t represent the average Joe. Even a fairly tepid figure like Bernie Sanders was too much for the elites, despite enjoying considerable popular support. I can only assume that use of the word leftist is intended to disparage and not to inform.

The characterisation of Kamala Harris as leftist is quite bizarre.  She may have some slightly progressive policies but is firmly committed to the status quo.  By the same token, her opponent is not right wing.  He is just a grifter who knows how to appeal to more conservative Americans.
