McLaren have a great platform for tyre management, they had a distinct advantage but even in last night's race RB, Mercedes and Ferrari all had superior ultimate pace but lost the tyres too quickly.

So....like qualifying where McLaren were also 1+2 ?

F1 is a marathon not a sprint.
Tyre management is part of the game.
A team and its 'pace' cannot be separated without taking tyre management into account in some manner.

McLaren are clearly the best car at the moment.
Verstappen is the best driver.
Sometimes the driver can outdo the car.
Last night, it couldn't.
