AFL Rd 5 2023 In Game Angst Carlton vs Adelaide

Wtf are you watching?
What is more important?
Hitouts or clearances?

Hitouts mean SFA unless they are to advantage.
80% of hitouts go to a 50-50 contest.
If Jack competing gives us a hitout that goes to a 50-50 contest (even if it comes off the hand of the opposition) then its a battle of our midfield vs theirs.

Forget about watching the hitout, watch the clearance.

I've just watched 2 ruck contests with Jack. He lost both hitouts.
Cripps got the clearance in one.
Jack got it in the other.

Yes, 'smashed' in the ruck contest, but in both cases, we wont the clearance which is all that matters.
His 'competing' in the ruck is all we need. We don't need him to win it, just compete.

EDIT
As i say that, he won the hitout, to advantage and we got another clearance.

EDIT2:
Jack won the next ruck clearance by himself as well.
