Apart from this forum/thread, every time I have heard this type of topic (ie name changes) discussed amongst the varying groups of people I associate and interact with both at work and socially, the overwhelming majority I have witnessed first hand have the "what a crock of shit" or "who gives a fork" attitude. Do I need to choose my friends, family and work colleagues more carefully?
In fact the surname will probably disappear over time as well in Australia imho.
