AFL 2022 Rd 19: Carlton vs GWS
Team: B+
A solid win, but not the sort of thrashing we can now hand out.
Votes:
[3] Adam Saad
[2.5] Sam Walsh
[1.5] Patrick Cripps
[1.5] Sam Docherty
[1] Charlie Curnow
[1] Adam Cerra
[1] Matthew Kennedy
[1] Will Setterfield
[0.5] Lachie Plowman
[0.5] Nick Newman
[0.5] Zac Fisher
[0.5] Matthew Cottrell
[0.5] Harry McKay
Explanations:
[3] Adam Saad: One of the best games you could imagine from a defender. His marking was great and his disposal and run were brilliant.
[2.5] Sam Walsh: Not that great until he was hurt. When he came back, he cranked it up a notch and really hurt GWS.
[1.5] Patrick Cripps: Got more of the ball than anyone else but didn’t make use of the ball as he can.
[1.5] Sam Docherty: Another great game from Doc in defence.
[1] Charlie Curnow: Had his man beaten all day. Could have had 6.
[1] Adam Cerra: Very good from Cerra, especially the things that don’t stick out. 27 possessions, 6 tackles and 4 clearances.
[1] Matthew Kennedy: Similar to Cerra, a lot of his work was not always as visible as some others were. 27 possessions, 6 tackles and 4 clearances.
[1] Will Setterfield: Probably Setters best game for a long time at this level. His kicking needs work, though.
[0.5] Lachie Plowman: A top effort from Plow in defence.
[0.5] Nick Newman: Got a lot of the pill and kept Greene out of the play, mostly.
[0.5] Zac Fisher: Another solid game, although not as brilliant as he can be.
[0.5] Matthew Cottrell: A solid effort with 2 very smart goals.
[0.5] Harry McKay: Kicked 2 and could have kicked 6.
Honourable Mentions:
Lochie O’Brien; Almost voteworthy, with some excellent disposal. Maybe next week …
Jack Silvagni: tries his guts out as ruckman but is always up against it. His other work is always good.
Josh Honey: 14 possessions is his best for a while, and his goal was great, but he needs to kick more goals.
Jacob Weitering: Kept his opponent under control but is not having the affect on games he usually has. No big marks yet.
