Happy to see Buttifant go. I dont know the guy but the story that Cripps sought his own running coach in the off season dismays me. The club should have been driving this via the head of fitness. Instead a 20 yer old player, albeit a highly driven one was doing his own thing. What exactly is the club doing in such a situation? Why pay a first round pick all that money and hope to resign him and then have him do his own thing? Because you were too lazy or incompetent to do it yourself. This is a good clue as to why our development is so poor. If cripps does this, how many other players are not pushing themselves in the off season. More than a few.
I dont get the impression many players had their own tailored programs in terms of running or technique. It all seemed very basic and sloppy, from the debacle of the first trip to Arizona where the weather was bad so they couldn't spend much time outdoors. Brilliant decision that one.
