Team: B-
We should have won by more, with the chances we wasted. But to win after such an ordinary start was a huge positive.
Votes:
[3] Ed Curnow:
[2] Patrick Cripps
[2] Sam Walsh
[1.5] Marc Murphy
[1.5] Liam Jones
[1] Sam Docherty
[1] Matthew Cottrell
[1] Tom Williamson
[0.5] Will Setterfield
[0.5] Lachie Plowman
[0.5] Levi Casboult
[0.5] Jack Newnes
Explanations:
[3] Ed Curnow: A brilliant game. He dominated his opponents, got the ball more than 30 times, had more clearances than anyone else and 4 tackles.
[2] Patrick Cripps: Not yet the Cripps of previous years, but much more so than he has been for most of this year. His work in close was excellent and he willed himself to get the ball.
[2] Sam Walsh: Very solid game in the conditions, 7 clearances and a lot of courage.
[1.5] Marc Murphy: While his disposal wasn’t as good as it has been, Murphy was very solid and kept finding the ball.
[1.5] Liam Jones: Made one mistake for the night and totally dominated his opponents.
[1] Sam Docherty: A solid step back from a guy who has been down. Very solid in defence.
[1] Matthew Cottrell: Cottrell kicked his first goal, he had 3 clearances and he kept his player quiet. Loved the run.
[1] Tom Williamson: Not huge numbers, but his aggression towards the ball was excellent. His opponents were very quiet.
[0.5] Will Setterfield: Not as good as he has been, but he did play well enough and he moved the ball on especially well in the conditions.
[0.5] Lachie Plowman: had the job on Fyffe when he went forward and kept him quiet.
[0.5] Levi Casboult: levi worked hard in the ruck and took some excellent marks forward, but he was loose and allowed his opponent too much room.
[0.5] Jack Newnes: Newnes had a night to forget until the time came. He stepped up magnificently!
Honourable Mentions:
Tom de Koning: Tom was probably beaten on the night, but he did show some of his talent, especially at the centre bounce. Some good contributions on the ground as well.
Jacob Weitering: Probably just shaded by Taberner but put in and was important in our comeback.
Michael Gibbons: A solid game, but not as effective as he can be.
Zac Fisher When he gets the ball, we look dangerous
Harry McKay What might have been. Had a few chances he would usually swallow, especially a chance to win the game with about a minute to go. So much potential, but the marks are not sticking at the moment.
And a special mention to Josh Honey. The lad didn’t have a big night, but his ball handling and pace made him look like he has a future.
