I was going to write that people should get their votes in soon when I realized I hadn't voted myself.
Team: A+
One of the most even performances from a Carlton team since our glory days. Considering the conditions, it was a win to remember.
Votes:
Each of these votes tonight is worth about 3 on any normal week, but with the evenness of the performance, I have little choice:
[1.5] Jack Martin
[1.5] Eddie Betts
[1] Sam Walsh
[1] Will Setterfield
[1] Ed Curnow
[1] Matthew Kennedy
[1] Liam Jones
[1] Jacob Weitering
[1] Kade Simpson
[1] Michael Gibbons
[1] Harry McKay
[1] Marc Pittonet
[0.5] Levi Casboult
[0.5] Tom Williamson
[0.5] Lachie Plowman
[0.5] Mitch McGovern
Explanations:
[1.5] Jack Martin: Excellent marking and hard work. Good combination. Beat his man.
[1.5] Eddie Betts: Kicked 4 and made others. We have missed him so badly.
[1] Sam Walsh: Nor brilliant, but his work rate was excellent. Never beaten.
[1] Will Setterfield: A big improvement. Good numbers. Good ball use.
[1] Ed Curnow: Stopped his man and got the ball himself. Gutsy effort.
[1] Matthew Kennedy: One of his best games in the midfield.
[1] Liam Jones: Dominated his man.
[1] Jacob Weitering: Dominated his opponent for the whole night.
[1] Kade Simpson: Simmo was good.
[1] Michael Gibbons: A very solid game. Always dangerous.
[1] Harry McKay: Brilliant early when it was at its wettest.
[1] Marc Pittonet: Very good in the middle of the ground.
[0.5] Levi Casboult: Took marks his opponent could only dream of in the weather.
[0.5] Tom Williamson: Particularly good early, before curtailed somewhat by an ankle injury.
[0.5] Lachie Plowman: Very solid down back and few mistakes.
[0.5] Mitch McGovern: Up and about all night. Dangerous in the air and made goals happen.
Honourable Mentions:
To be honest, these guys probably deserved votes too.
Jack Newnes: Very solid effort on the night.
Marc Murphy: Did his role well and used the ball effectively in the wet.
Sam Docherty: Doc didn’t have his greatest night: he had to keep his man under control. He did the job and really put his body in.
Sam Petrevski-Seton: SPS was solid in defence.
Even Cuningham wasn’t that bad. He didn’t get a lot of the ball but he kept his man totally out of the play.
Crippa was injured.
