OK, we got within 4 goals of last year’s premiers, and the Umpiring sucked big time yet again, but in the end not enough players did enough for long enough. Losing Liam Jones and Daisy before the game really hurt us. However, for us to win we need better outputs from more players, and we didn’t get them.

[3] Sam Walsh
[3] Nick Newman
[2] Kade Simpson
[1.5] Marc Murphy
[1.5] Sam Petrevski-Seton
[1] Patrick Cripps
[1] Jacob Weitering
[1] Harry McKay
[0.5] Michael Gibbons
[0.5] Lochie O’Brien
Explanations:
[3] Sam Walsh: Brilliant all game and produced some real magic. His clearance work was excellent, as was his run through the middle. Walsh was clearly the most effective midfielder on the ground.
[3] Nick Newman: Nick had a strong game in defence and kicked 4 long goals. Well done.
[2] Kade Simpson: Simmo again played an excellent game and has regained the form that alluded him earlier in the year. He was excellent in defence.
[1.5] Marc Murphy: Murphy had another slid game in the midfield.
[1.5] Sam Petrevski-Seton: SPS produced some real magic in defence and appears to have found a spot.
[1] Patrick Cripps: Scragged and tagged, Cripps still managed 24 possessions and more clearances than anyone else.
[1] Jacob Weitering: Soundly defeated his man
[1] Harry McKay: Marking was excellent, but he took them so far out from goal that he was never really a chance to score.
[0.5] Michael Gibbons: Another solid effort with 3 goals.
[0.5] Lochie O’Brien: Pretty good game on his wing.
Honourable Mentions:
Jack Silvagni: Not as influential as we probably needed, but we didn’t make it easy for him with our poor entry in the forward line. Solid in the middle when moved there.
Lachie Plowman: Took on Darling and didn’t lower his colours. However, he really struggled to provide any drive for us.
Ed Curnow: Not as effective as he has been, but still tried his guts out.
