JLT Round 1 - Blues v Hird's Old Crew (this Thursday, Princes Park)

Quote:He's 21, having played 56 games. Whereas Charlie Curnow, his draft class mate of 2015, emerged as a major forward force last year, Weitering remained a dormant talent – a symbol, indeed, of Carlton's vast unrealised potential as a football club.

Weitering stumbled in 2018 for various reasons. It didn't help that that the Blues were awful, and that he was being asked to play as a key defender in a team that was getting smashed in the midfield.

In normal circumstances, a young key back begins his career as the second or third tall, playing alongside a 150-gamer who plays on the premier forwards. Weitering, alas, wasn't afforded the typical apprenticeship.
Finals, then 4 in a row!
