I'd be spitting chips if we came third in a stronger conference and missed a finals spot to a team that had won fewer games. I guess it will even out over time.
It is almost NEVER this extreme in the split ups. But, it still proves my point. If there was 10 teams and top 4 went through, all 5 of the the teams in our conference would have the cue in the rack already. Top 4 is between 5 teams. 5 teams would have season over.
This way, all 5 of those teams still have an interest in the season.
Of the other 5, all 5 of them are still capable of making top 5 in the 'good group'.
Yes ultimately, 3rd in the good group may not make the finals, but chances are they played and lost to the 2 teams that did make it from their group, so they've only got themselves to blame.
