Is it still only 1 year contracts?

I think it still is. This is probably because the rules for payment appear to be changing rapidly and nobody wants to be caught using the wrong rules.
After all, most players were rolled over during the Trade Period. The lists were updated and a number of players were delisted. The list is earlier in this thread. The new players and the retained players were given an updated contract for 2018.
That said, I know some of the players have contracts that are effectively for longer periods, on the assumption that they remain at the club. Many of the top girls get extras of various types. Darcy Vescio was one of these last year: her head was everywhere. It was worth it: she was a great face for female Carlton football.
Lauren Arnell has other duties to the club, involving coaching and development. She is also working as a commentator on the Channel 7 and the ABC. WE may be seeing more of Lauren Arnell, but that means that she might retire sooner rather than later. She is DEFINITELY going to be one of girls who makes an entire life around football.
