Jim Park Voting: Rd 22: Carlton vs Hawthorn
#2
Is everybody waiting for me? I expected a LOT of people wanting to put their 2 cents worth in for this one!

Team: A
The result probably cost us the #1 pick, but I’m not going to lose any sleep about that. I am very pleased with the way we just kept going. That we frustrated Hawthorn has a pleasant side effect.

Votes:
This one was another real team performance with a lot of players really putting in.
[2] Sam Docherty
[2] Marc Murphy
[2] Liam Jones
[1.5] Matthew Kreuzer
[1] Bryce Gibbs
[1] Jed Lamb
[1] Sam Kerridge
[1] Blaine Boekhorst
[0.5] Jarrod Pickett
[0.5] Lachie Plowman
[0.5] Charlie Curnow
[0.5] Ciaran Byrne
[0.5] Jacob Weitering
[0.5] Kade Simpson
[0.5] Zac Fisher

Explanations:
[2] Sam Docherty: 15 marks and 30+ possessions again just shows his dominance down there in defence. Hawthorn guy couldn’t get near him.
[2] Marc Murphy: First half was OK, 2nd half was brilliant. It was a very good captain’s game. His possessions hurt.
[2] Liam Jones: Jones was brilliant. His spoils were so impressive. His opponents struggled to get a sniff.
[1.5] Matthew Kreuzer: Worked very hard in the ruck and got a number of great centre clearances.
[1] Bryce Gibbs: His start and finish were nothing less than brilliant.
[1] Jed Lamb: Did his job, got a fair bit of ball and irritated the hell out of the Hawthorn defence. His 2 goals were exceptional.
[1] Sam Kerridge: Excellent all night, even with his usual handful of disposal muck-ups.
[1] Blaine Boekhorst: One of his best games, Blaine didn’t just disappear when the pressure went on. He still has considerable improvement to be the player we need, but this was a very good step forward.
[0.5] Jarrod Pickett: Not enough possession yet, but a big improvement. Probably his best game for us. Speed was very useful.
[0.5] Lachie Plowman: A great game in defence, totally shading his opponents.
[0.5] Charlie Curnow: 22 possessions and some great marks, Charlie was always dangerous.
[0.5] Ciaran Byrne: An excellent return from Byrne, who adds real dash and pace to our defence. He had midfield numbers while his opponents struggled for impact.
[0.5] Jacob Weitering: I didn’t think he had the perfect matchup at any time, but Jacob really had a solid game with string marking and much improved decision making.
[0.5] Kade Simpson: It was a typical Simmo game in many ways. Really solid.
[0.5] Zac Fisher: Possibly his best game to date with 16 possessions, each of which were dangerous.

Honourable Mentions:
Dale Thomas: Most other days this sort of effort would have garnered votes. Daisy was very smart and almost took mark of the year. His possessions generally hurt Hawthorn.
Matthew Wright: Like Daisy, Wright’s solid effort would often have been a vote winner. His goals and pressure were what we needed.
Sam Petrevski-Seton: Not enough yet, but when he gets the ball, good things happen for us.
Live Long and Prosper!
