There's nothing wrong with long bombs if you've got a couple of decent key forwards who can outbody and outplay their defenders.
Don't forget we played Essendon without any of their three key defenders from last season, Carlisle is gone but Hurley and Hooker would be walk up starts.

There is plenty wrong with kicking a high ball to the pocket that isn't to advantage and we're out numbered. We had more Mary's than the Vatican today.

A long penetrating kick to the right spot can be good but it isn't what we're doing. Most of our long kicks into the forward line are usually high floaters to nobody in particular and come at the end of slow ball movement that allows the opposition to push back in numbers and  set up. Buddy Franklin wouldnt even kick goals in that situation.

Gibbs was well Ok but he still doesn't go in hard and still picks and chooses when to go.

There are big questions on work rate. Very little link up play and running the ball to create overlap that exposes defensive zones and far too much bombing it long to no advantage. Nearly the whole match seemed to played in slow motion with no movement. The few times we took it on and carried the ball we looked infinitely better and exposed their lack of pace. But all too often we had no movement and resorted to kicking backwards.

We got lucky they weren't good enough to expose this. Once we start fronting up against the better teams again they will run us ragged just like Sydney and the Gold Coast did.

But for now let's just enjoy beating the bummers 

Disagree. That was lack of confidence rather than desire.

Very happy we won and the best thing from my perspective is the leadership group to a man all stood up when it mattered

Either our forwards don't even try to make leads or our delivery is so bad, as you say, that it is impossible.
I watched Jones on one occasion when the ball was delivered straight to him at a comfortable marking height. He just waited for it, stationary, rather than attacking it. Result - no mark.
