AFL Rd 22 2024 In Game Angst Carlton vs Hawthorn at MCG
#71
Yep, too many blokes happy to take a cheque and just not committed enough.

Serious question to players....did/are you doing everything to ensure peak performance in season?  Because there's too many STIs just to chance.  Too many.

That reeks of not being committed

The blue face came out that quarter.

Not sure what that plan is, but it effectively seems to mean don't kick goals and let the opposition score.

Fogarty was actually taken out by Martin before he himself broke down.  Thanks Martin.

Boyd was already hobbling after about a quarter.  Persisted and that was that.

Now weitering he is our number one issue right now. His positioning has been woeful.  Partly because he's trying to do too much and not guiding his mates.  Our defense is not working together and hawthorn are playing high pressure footy.  It's a recipe for disaster.

We were making it hard for ourselves but we were better in first. We have two outs now that is disastrous.

Second quarter was it was like the structure fell apart completely - hopefully they regroup and come good.

Need something to change / don’t rate the hawks tbh. We should be smashing them.

If the structure falls apart by losing martin who a sheet of glass is less likely to break then his body and fiogerty a small defensive forward against a team outside the 8 we are not a finals team let alone a real contender.
Im over the excuses

Cannot continue to have a list of players that continually break down. It’s killing us.

Agree. Should have been delisted with marchbank and cunningham 2 years ago and we are still persisting.

Yep same. I have no idea what the club is thinking, but I'm of the view that we have done the right thing by Cuningham, Martin and Marchbank over several seasons, and it's time to move them on.

...and Williams feeling his knee right on half time.

I wouldn't be so easily swayed by all this business about Hawthorn being outside the top 8. They are pretty much the form team of the competition. What Mitchell or his development team have done with a team of no names is pretty impressive IMO. At this point the decision to  move on Clarkson looks like an inspired one.

It's pretty crook when we struggle to find a positive but I do want to give Owies a mention

There was a passage of play in the second when Owies chased and chased from contest to contest and put pressure on about 4 different players.
A couple of minutes later he did the same thing again with another couple of efforts...one of which should probably have been rewarded.

And can you believe we haven’t signed him on yet?!
Literally our best small forward.

We'll give away for a third rounder and get in a slow midfielder who can't kick with the pick.
