Trumpled (Alternative Leading)
So that's half the problem fixed, who's next?

Looks like Harris doesn't have Dem support, on the global stage Harris can at times be a bit flippant, appearing stage struck by foreign leaders and royalty, as such I'm not convinced.

Having said that I haven't seen any Harris actions that are Trump like!

The problem with Harris is....
1. She is a she.
2. She has black and asian heritage

Neither of them will win her any votes from pro-trump side of town.
It will probably lose her some votes from the pro-biden side of town.

Only question is if it will energise enough other (normally non)voters to make up the difference

We can't draw the same conclusions as we might here because voting in the USA isn't compulsory.

If Harris gets more people to the poles, it could be bad for Trump, his fan base is fanatic, I'd suggest the ones that might vote probably vote anyway.

Trump started up with the vitriol again over the last 48hrs, about foreigners / aliens, but in some of his marginal regions a lot of potential female voters will be females with Asian or Sth American heritage, but Harris needs to find a way to get them to vote!

But it won't be uniform, when Gillard ran I was quite surprised by the matriarchal attitude to wards her, many thoughts her place was in the home.

A lot of folk would have  been holding out for an "anybody but the old blokes" candidate.

The election will probably be decided in a few swing states.
While Harris appears to be the frontrunner to be the Democrat candidate there will be some concern about her ability to carry these states.

There will probably be few head to head polls in the next few days that may influence her candidature...but they may be the honeymoon period polls. She still has a bit of work to do.

Harris has one significant element on her side - amidst all the hand-wringing about the poor quality of the two candidates, she comes in as a viable (and much younger) alternative.

Trump has sprinted to the lead a long way out from the line, and now has to counter an entirely different narrative.

Just like a footy game, politics is often about timing and momentum.  The Democrats have just swung in their Medi-Sub, the only question now is how big an impact it will bring.
This is now the longest premiership drought in the history of the Carlton Football Club - more evidence of climate change?

her biggest issue is going to be how they attack her.

If she plays everything with a straight bat she'll win comfortably as no one likes Donny.

If she starts bending the truth one false move and she's done.  In fact if I was her I would barely campaign. I'd go out and be the voice of reason and maturity.  Acknowledge the issues make no promises, and just reiterate how hard she'll work to put it right.  Donny will lose the election himself if she let's him.  If they attack him they'll look scared.

It's a slam dunk just don't be crap and you'll win.

Their system is pretty unique.
Early polls don't show a lot of movement...yet.
But it's not the percentages that count.
It's winning the states and the electoral college votes that go with them.

This is the big unknown, but one can only assume they were 'non-voters' because they didn't like either candidate.  It would therefore seem logical that the vast majority who decide they are going to vote now that Biden is gone will be putting their hand up for Harris.

Apathy and disengagement are big factors, as are the voting rules designed to make it harder for the great unwashed to take part.
