With the collapse of the conservative vote in the UK there were a few who needed to find a new party to support
Some did go to the right but many more went to the centre and left...so it kind of missed that 'right shift' occurring elsewhere in Europe.

Part of that result though was the Labour party itself moving a bit more to the centre...I doubt much will change on a whole range of issues.
One of the interesting aspects was the collapse of the Scottish National Party...independence might be on the backburner for a while.

France has had a little lurch away from the far right.

It looks like having a minority leftist New Populat Front government supported by Macron’s centrist party.  Marine Le Pen’s far right National Rally dropped to third place.

It looks like having a minority leftist New Populat Front government supported by Macron’s centrist party.  Marine Le Pen’s far right National Rally dropped to third place.

There is a worry in all this, it seems the downhill path is the route most often taken, and to combat extremist views the political parties are willing to become more extreme.

I don't understand how they think it is a good idea to pander to extreme views on either side of society, it just drives more conflict.
