But....he was not in great form in the VFL. He has shown little form in the AFL.
So if we want to build confidence etc, surely he has to get VFL right first?
The kid has had an extended run at it already. This will be his 5th game in a row. He has had a best game of 10 disposals. Is tackling less than twice a game on average. Has 1, 1% for the year.
He is older than Durdin and Motlop, but performing worse and hitting the scoreboard less, as well as getting the ball less.
We don't gift games to anyone at the moment, Cowan, Holland and Cincotta have all earned games.......and then there is honey.
Cowan performed better, but was still dropped when form warranted it.
I don't see what he is doing that continues to give him that 'free pass' for now.
Homey I think got retained purely for passing it off rather than blaze away and going himself.
Our small forwards are horribly out of form so it's not like they should be right back in.

Many of us had been calling for Fisher to spend some time in the VFL for weeks after the start of the season, then after perhaps turning around his form and showing signs of improvement he gets the chop.
I'm vexed, it's very vexing!

He’s got himself to the right positions a few times but for whatever reason appears to be lacking confidence - I’m hoping that this extended run of games is a sign that our coaching staff are telling Honey that he has free licence and that they do not mind if Honey makes a mistake taking players on or having a shot. If Honey’s confidence builds and he starts to use his pace and strength there simply aren’t too many defenders that will be able to go with him.

Well said, No. 6. But he'd want to get a wriggle on, a few blokes who could take his place are warming up in the Magoos/returning from injury soon.

I don't think he is confirmed yet which means Fisher may get the gig in front of him. I would be extremely disappointed if this was the case. Fisher needs to go back to the 2s and dominate before he gets back into the 1s.

Honey spends a lot of time on the bench, like McGovern, and could perhaps have a greater impact if he was on the ground for longer periods rather than stopping and starting.
Apart from being proficient on both feet, Honey seems to be better able do something positive when he has the pill than does Fish.

If we beat this mob I think we'll get a lot of cred back and be real contenders.
At the moment the footy community don't think we are a threat. (Which is warranted)
Would be nice be a force again but not sure how the team would go becoming the hunted instead of being the hunter.

I think in the first half of last year, we built consistency around the way we played, the gap between our best and worst was small. Even in the second half, we lost games but werent terrible, just not good enough.
This year that consistency gap and widened a touch, we need to close it, in a hurry.
Forget the score line and the quality of opposition but last weeks game, the way we played, was the bench mark in many ways. We must bring that level, or as close as f#$% is to swearing to it, every week and the score line will take care of itself.
