AFLW 2022 - R2 vs Brisbane @Maroochydore NO LONGER - Now vs Geelong @GMHBA
#1
Reigning premiers got embarrassed against arch rival Adelaide in R1 and will be looking to make amends.

We will want to bounce back after a disappointing R1 as well. Have we got the class to do it? Are playing what could be the best 2 teams in the league in the first 2 rounds a blessing in disguise to force us to lift our game?

Not sure of the ins/outs yet, but i'd be bringing in Poppy Schaap if fit. She is a player that everyone will love. Energiser bunny in a small package with a heart as big as pharlaps.

Hopefully Egan gets up.
Not sure what is up with McEvoy
Prespakis limped off at the final siren which is a worry we don't need either.

Do we get anyone back?
Wilson? Hill??

Hard to find the injury list for the women at the moment. It would be very useful to have Hill and/or Wilson available. That would improve our defence significantly.
I'd be tempted to bring in Poppy Schaap: we need more goals and she is a goal kicker who can make something out of nothing.

I wonder if those under-done were excluded simply because of the weather the AFLW is played in, even some of the fittest from both sides were struggling by the final siren.

You wouldn't want to be out there under-done!

Personally, I think it's a scheduling error to play any of these games before 6pm anywhere except perhaps Tassie!

AFLW is not a summer sport!

I also worry about the ground conditions, and the effects of ground conditions and muscle fatigue on injuries like those ACLs. The girls are already more susceptible to such injuries, and we are playing the season in potential conditions which make things worse!

I dont think weather had anything to do with picking the side.

But in terms of injuries...thats another story.

Add the heat to the 16 on the ground, as well as the lasso rule which encourages faster play and you see we are pushing these part-time athletes to breaking point.

That being said, injuries will occur and perhaps its a freak weekend and we'll get donuts over the next couple.
Sample size is too small to make a call one way or another.

Grace Egan is out for 4-6 weeks.

Broke 2 ribs and got a punctured lung.

Tough luck for a courageous effort of standing under the ball.

Quote:Egan joins second-year Blue Mimi Hill on the injury list, with the Game Changers continuing to adopt a ‘wait-and-see’ approach on the youngster’s availability in her return from an ACL injury sustained last season.

No mention of Wilson.

I think I'd rather be playing Brisbane, to be honest. But, so be it.

Yes and No.

Lions are low on players, sure, but they still won the flag last year.

Cats only had 1 win for the year and finished 2nd last.
