Just like the 1's......its amazing what a well balanced side can do.

I don't think the VFL has had that all year thanks to the injuries in the 1's and lack of KP depth in the 2's.

SANDRINGHAM            0.1      5.3        6.3          9.6 (60)
CARLTON VFL                6.7      6.12      11.22      14.25 (109)

GOALS
Carlton: Crocker 4, Phillips 3, McGovern 2, Handley, North, Petrevski-Seton, Stephens, Wooller

BESTS
Carlton: Parsons, McGovern, Petrevski-Seton, Handley, Fogarty, Ramsay

SPS had 30 possessions: he wants back in the seniors.
Probably the big difference was Andrew Phillips.  :-[  :-[  St. Kilda win when they have ruck dominance, and they didn't get it today. Phillips has the experience to dominate around the ground, not just at the centre bounce. We've missed that badly in recent games.
McGovern also gave the forward marking target that we've lacked all year. It is a much easier game when you have first use of the ball and someone who can mark the ball.

OK, this was written by a media student rather than the coach but it's pretty close to how I saw it:

Quote:1.  Sam Petrevski-Seton was a standout for the Blues today, responding well in his return to the VFL side. Working hard around the ground, he would rack up 30 disposals and five inside 50s to go along with a first-quarter goal. It was his off-the-ball work that stood out, with the midfielder constantly around the play and making life difficult for Sandringham players. His presence around the ground was a key factor in the victory, and something Petrevski-Seton will look to continue to close out the season.

2.  After returning from a long layoff due to injury, Mitch McGovern was put to the test as he seemingly played every position possible. Starting off strongly in the forward line by kicking the first goal of the game, McGovern was also pinch-hitting in the ruck and able to neutralise the contest, despite being significantly undersized. His competitiveness was rewarded with a free kick in the third term which gave him his second goal for the day. When the Blues were kicking into the breeze, McGovern often swapped with Toby Wooller in being stationed behind the ball, where he continued to be involved by taking several intercept marks.

I can't see Samo displacing anyone other than Murphy and I'm not sure that will happen.  On the other hand, Mitch McGovern would have to be a monty to replace De Koning.  McGovern's ruckwork was passable and his marking around the ground was very good.

Was wondering that myself yesterday.

Just on finals does anybody know how the final ladder positions will be decided seeing different states being locked down and not been able to play and other states been able to play?

This was our team for the week. Murphy was out: Injury sub for the seniors. Will probably remain that way until his 200th is done and dusted.

Murphy will possibly be ‘managed’ in the next two weeks to allow him to play his 300th at home vs GWS  rather than away against Port…. Which would suit us!!!
