Jim Park Voting: AFL 2021 Rd 1: Carlton vs Richmond
#1
I am assuming you want me to continue with the Jim Park analysis. As such, I need to update my spreadsheet ASAP. Smile

Voting is as usual: you have 15 votes to award pretty much as you will, with the following provisos:
[1] 15 votes in total, no more, no less.
[2] No more than 10 votes for any one player (even Cripps)
[3] Three players at least must get a mention.
[4] A grade for the game, A+ (what I want to see) to F-.

Grade :  C+

Walsh 8
Saad 3 (great run-down in the last)
Curnow 2
Cripps 2

Honorables to Weitering and McKay
This is now the longest premiership drought in the history of the Carlton Football Club - more evidence of climate change?

Honourable mention for jack silvagni.  That chase down was immense.

He does so many team things that just don't show in stats and are the difference between us and the tigers.

Ed curnow starting to look a bit tired.  Ditto Murphy.

Team: B-
We were probably the better team on the night, but Richmond managed to get goals at the wrong time (for us).

Votes:
[3] Sam Walsh
[2] Adam Saad
[2] Patrick Cripps
[2] Jacob Weitering
[1.5] Lachie Plowman
[1] Jack Newnes
[1] Ed Curnow
[0.5] Jack Silvagni
[0.5] Oscar McDonald
[0.5] Harry McKay
[0.5] Marc Pittonet
[0.5] Zac Fisher

Explanations:
[3] Sam Walsh: Probably our most effective player, Sam was excellent for 4 quarters.
[2] Adam Saad: Very good for his first game for us. I was pleasantly pleased with his disposal.
[2] Patrick Cripps: Cripps ran out of gas somewhat, but he was excellent for most of the game.
[2] Jacob Weitering: Totally destroyed his opponent all night, even though he didn’t get huge amounts of ball.
[1.5] Lachie Plowman: Plow had a good night in defence.
[1] Jack Newnes: An excellent game from Newnes.
[1] Ed Curnow: Ed also ran out of gas somewhat, but he was good.
[0.5] Jack Silvagni: Jack was very good until he was injured. We missed his desire.
[0.5] Oscar McDonald: Very solid on debut. Took a couple of marks and kicked straight.
[0.5] Harry McKay: Had H kicked 5, he would have been the reason we won, but missing two shots badly and mucking up another with a bad decision hurt him. Basically, he had the better of his opponent. But his decisions hurt.
[0.5] Marc Pittonet: Pitto was good around the ground (except for one poor judgement) and he struggled manfully in the ruck. He was very good early but struggled in the centre square.
[0.5] Zac Fisher: What could have been. Needs to work on his disposal.

Honourable Mentions:
Sam Docherty: Got the ball a lot, but he is fumbling too much. He needs time and success to get his confidence back.
Lachie Fogarty: The FOG did OK but missing from close range hurt us badly.
Paddy Dow: Dow had some patches and did some really nice things, but he didn’t do enough when we really needed him.
