Pre game postulations: AFL 2019 Rd 18: Carlton vs Gold Coast at Marvel
#1
The Gold Coast appear to have lost the mojo they had at the start of the season. We, on the other hand, appear to be heading in a better direction. They beat us earlier: can we return the favour?

The weather in Melbourne this week sounds is going to be wet and windy: perfect time for a game at Marvel! Now we have to be able to beat their rucks!

In my view, this is definitely one of those cliched "danger games." Suns have been embarrassed twice in as many weeks, Dew reckons (rightly or wrongly) the Crows' coaches were laughing at them, and I think they will steel themselves to show real effort and attitude. We have been up for a few weeks, and next week is a perfect time for a young team to lose a little focus.

Tend to agree with Paul.
This is actually a different kind of test for the coaching group.
It will be a different experience.
We will go in favourites.
We will expect to win and should win comfortably...that's when things can go a bit pear shaped.
The effort and attitude can be no less than what it has been in the previous few weeks.

Get that right and it should be a good afternoon

Definite danger game, but if Teague and co are serious, with our respective recent form, we should flog them....and i expect too.

In reality, i'd just be happy with the 'W'.

Out: Goddard
In: Weitering

Cunners too if fit.
Give Gov another week off.

Big battle in the ruck this week with Kreuzer vs Witts.

Witts is the closest thing to Sandilands going around at the moment and not the type that Kreuzer plays well against. I'd like to see Kreuzer push forward and run him around.

I think it would upset team balance, but i'd like to see TDK get a gig soon. Maybe if Weitering doesn't come up?

Suns will be without Anthony Myles following 1 week suspension.

Coming together is the beginning.
Keeping together is progress.
Working together is success.

I agree with all the above.

This game is very important for us and for Teague.

If we drop this one DT's chances to be our next senior coach will take a slide.
I spent most of my money on Women and grog.
The rest I just wasted.

Suns aren't going to want to beat us - it'll destroy their pitch for a priority pick...

Injuries (huge list) - a week old:

GOLD COAST

Callum Ah Chee Ankle Indefinite
Ben Ainsworth Foot 2 weeks
Jack Bowes Quad 2 weeks
Sam Collins Hip Season
Brayden Crossley Personal leave TBC
Sam Fletcher Quad Test
Nick Holman Back Indefinite
Jack Martin Finger TBC
Wil Powell Knee TBC
Josh Schoenfeld Knee 1-2 weeks
Rory Thompson Knee Season
Harrison Wigg Knee Season
Aaron Young Knee TBC

Updated: Wednesday, July 10

Early prognosis

No confirmation on Powell's injury yet, but following Saturday's loss to Richmond, coach Stuart Dew conceded the young wingman would likely miss the rest of the season. Martin could be in a similar boat after finger surgery, but the club will know more on both after consulting specialists later in the week. Ainsworth and Bowes are now only a fortnight away from returning. - Michael Whiting

Finals, then 4 in a row!

Big percentage booster this one, can't see them getting within 10 goals.
