Post Game Celebration: AFL 2019 Rd 12: Carlton vs Brisbane
(06-09-2019, 05:03 AM)Gointocarlton link Wrote:Right or wrong, the players lost games resulting in a man losing his job. They would be feeling pretty s-house about that. We managed to stay with the trend and win after a coach was sacked. History says the good fortune falls away pretty quickly.

History also says teams coming off a bye don't go so well too....
Finals, then 4 in a row!

Here is an interesting story many might not know about. Merge this into another thread if it is more appropriate.

The AFL’s hard line stance over fan abuse has gone to the next level at Marvel Stadium on Saturday with a fan being ejected.
As the teams walked off the ground and into the rooms, the fan unloaded but not in the direction of a player, instead he targeted the men in yellow as he unleashed in the direction of umpire Matthew Nicholls.
Nicholls and the other umpires entered the race as a fan reportedly called him a “bald-headed flog”.
The words caused Nicholls to stop and point out the man to ground security who moved in and escorted him out of the ground.
“Nicholls stopped and pointed at the fan who said what he said,” Jacqui Reed said on 3AW.
“Fans were standing around in shock as security converged to make sure that fan exited Marvel Stadium.”
“Officials are now on high alert.”

This was a Carlton supporter who spoke on the radio about the incident.

Immediately after the game a call was made to 3AW claiming to be from the evicted fan himself.
“That was me and all I said was: ‘You can’t (handball) one-handed, you bald-headed flog’,’’ the caller said.
“He’s just pretty much stamped his hand on the side of the wall there, pointed at the security guard and sort of chucked a hissy fit.
“There were security guards standing pretty close to me and they heard everything as well and as I was being escorted to the back of the ground they said, (there) is nothing we can do, this is management policy.
“I actually chose my words and made sure I didn’t swear because there’s kids around so it’s pretty embarrassing from the AFL.

“They’ve made me wait half an hour for an AFL integrity officer to come and take a photo of myself and my membership then I got escorted from the ground by the police and security. I was pretty annoyed.”

How precious are the umpires becoming in the AFL? Surely Gillon needs a please explain for this.
This digital world is too much for us insects to understand.

You can’t say “maggots “ or the AFL will escort you from this forum. How do they fail the review process when the crowd get a view of the replay at the ground? There were a few poor decisions go over the last few weeks with goals, points with the goal umpires.

I'm in no danger of being escorted from a ground.

Don't tell me the AFL haven't been "coaching" the umpires to call out anything they feel is abusive.  I would not believe it for a second

The AFL are becoming a law unto themselves.
I must be mistaken thinking footy is the pride and joy of our country. Not a play maker for the priveledged few.
Stop messing with our sport ????

No supporters = No AFL. A CFL ???????? maybe but no AFL.

I'll swear less at the footy when the flogs,  I mean umpires,  develop some kind of consistency with the guidelines that used to be rules.

The AFL created this mess and have no idea how to sort it out.  As outlined above,  cure the problem and there won't be symptoms to deal with.
DrE is no more... you ok with that harmonica man?
