Our defense were busy yet effective against the most dynamic forward line in the competition. Hats off to all the defenders. Weiters continues to build as a general under Daisy guidance. No Simo, Newy, or Jones. Although that's half our best backline out, we kept them honest. Well done.
Young Willo and Stocker can hold their heads high. Casboult too can take a bow. 80 odd DE... and 8 or so intercepts. maybe he was a defender all along ????
Plowman was cleaner and Marchy is building nicely.
Coming together is the beginning.
Keeping together is progress.
Working together is success.

That's a pretty good synopsis I reckon LN.

Agree, but i reckon he had a good matchup.

I think that card should be played sparingly. Simply doesn't have the speed to go with 80% of the forwards he'll come up against. Jones has that extra pace required in the modern game.

I’m not too keen on anybody vs Cameron because he’s the best forward in the Como. Weitering too slow, Casboult not agile enough, Jones/Plowman not smart enough, Marchbank not physical enough etc best we can hope for is an off day or poor/limited supply

As for the blow-out at the end, sounds like from what BB said once we lost the lead we were trying to win the game, (i.e. score ourselves) not limit the damage

Umpiring has become an impossible task at league level. I don't blame the umpires for the shambles of today's game (much). i blame the afl making umpiring a stage management exercise where infringements are relegated in favour of a loose and moving ball. Numerous infringements both ways went ignored and rediculous frees awarded when it seemed an umpire wanted to get involved, having to make up their quota. The double 50 was idiotic, a case of the Carlton player setting it up. Yet if a player is clearly infringing the 6-6-6 rule they get a 'warning'. A warning at league level! Just in case the full time professionals don't know the rules.

Liked McGovern today- he makes space better than any of our forwards and has a terrific mark. We countered collingwood well today, covering their ability to zone and cover options. Back line too played a strong and mostly organised game, with Thomas providing lots of run in the first half.

Still, another loss. Its pretty disappointing. Hope they can bring the same standard for the rest if the year. Wins will come

Good summary. I think you had to actually be at the ground today to appreciate how hard the boys went.  No-one shirked today.

We just couldn't get it out of their forward line in the last 5 mins. No surprises really. Well drilled runners up v. perennial cellar dwellers.

The debate about why the premier competition in the land still uses part-time, non-professional umpires will re-surface this week, as well it should.  Too many instances of a baffling non-decision AGAINST Carlton being followed up almost immediately by a baffling decision awarded TO Collingwood. Some really cray cray stuff.

I'm hearing Plowman has a broken cheekbone, will miss a few weeks. But no, clearly he wasn't hit high in that marking contest that they got a goal from the spillage....
