2018 VFL Rd 16: Northern Blues vs Werribee at Werribee
#1
WERRIBEE v. NORTHERN BLUES

Round 16 – 22/07/2018    01:00PM
Avalon Airport Oval (Chirnside Park)

On at the same time as the Carlton vs Hawthorn game, so one of our players will be the senior emergency.

Northern Blues

B: 7. M. Blakey, 13. C. O’Shea, 44. C. Byrne
HB: 29. J. Hill, 17. S. Rowe, 51. A. Mullett
C: 54. J.  Garlett, 1. T.  Wilson, 33. D.  Lang
HF: 3. J. Palmer, 30. P. Kerr, 46. M. Wright
F: 38. K. LeBois, 15. L. Casboult, 26. J. Silvagni
R: 36. M. Lobbe, 9. S. Fisher, 32. N. Graham
Int: 5. T. De Koning, 11. A. Federico, 25. K. Keppel, 14. J. Lynch, 22. C. McCabe, 27. A. Milham, 12. B. Myers, 24. F. Pearce, 57. E. Penrith, 49. A. Schumacher, 35. M. Stavrou, 16. J. Velissaris

23P: 58. J. Naylor

In: J. Silvagni, D. Lang, M. Wright, S. Rowe, T. De Koning, K. Keppel, 1. Garlett, A. Milham

Of the 15 Carlton players named at best 10 will play. No certainty of de Koning or Lang, but they'd be very welcome.
The midfield is looking very bare.

Looked a pretty good team but now....
Silvagni, Lobbe, Wright and Casboult are out of that side.

Actually it still doesn't look too bad. De Koning and Schumacher will probably come in.
Should be worth a look.

Interesting to see how Sam Collins goes for Werribee at FB on the Bolt...Collins is good odds to be picked up again by a club wanting a key defender.
Played for Freo and was unlucky to be cut IMO.......I'd be checking him out as a cheap replacement for SOS/Rowe...
Cant believe Ben Maloney is still playing for Werribee, went to Collingwood and I thought he retired but now back at the Bees.....been a good VFL Footballer

Sam Collins - yes please.

Like the way he goes about it.

Dockers were mad to chop him.

Quote:Lamont said he hoped the Werribee environment would be able to assist Collins in getting back into the AFL system and described the 194cm, 97kg defender as “a round peg in a round hole” given the club’s recruiting requirements.

“Sam is exactly what we need,” said Lamont.

“He’s experienced, he shows leadership, he has the size to play on the big blokes, and he plays with aggression and courage, so he’s going to be a really good role model for our younger defenders.

“He wants another opportunity at AFL level, and we’d love that for him. In the meantime, he’s team orientated, so he’s a great fit for us, and we’re really excited to have him as part of our playing group in this new era.”

Injured. Not long until his return, though.

As should Cameron Bruce..seems strange no Hawks have followed Bolton to us or maybe as DJ suggested their was a gentlemans agreement
not to poach Hawks players..

More likely none have been what Silvagni was after...some of their older players would possibly have been useful for a year or two though.
Maybe this year.
