Last night Exon and a couple of others hurt us, excluding Li it looked like nobody was capable of chasing down a ball carrier.

From the outside it looks like we have heavily prioritised inside strength and endurance over pace, it leaves us with playing lists that look imbalanced.

Don't think this is true about the men's team.

Plenty of pace there - Garlett, Pickett, Byrne, Fisher, Charlie, Dow, O'Brien, Lang - all quick or very quick....

ASOS too has toe, ditto Jones and Macreadie for a big guy....
Finals, then 4 in a row!

Yes, its seems to me efforts are being made to address our lack of pace.

We missed Davey last night.

We missed her run, carry and penetrating kicking coming out of the backline.

Lions just built a wall 30m behind the ball and caught everything we tried to clear. Thats why the coach said to be patient and go wide to get around the wall. We were better, but not good enough.

Didn't help that we lost 2 runners in Gee and Brazzale.

Not sure why everyone is writing us off, we were on top of the ladder before this game, and still =1st. Not bad considering we are playing without our coach, captain and last years captain for one reason or another.

Quite a few of those blokes played in AFLX and appeared deadset slow relative to the opposition.

We looked great when we switched play and ran the ball, but that happened too infrequently.

One thing that concerned me was the number of kicks from the backline that went directly to the opposition.  The defenders’ first option is to roost the ball as far as possible.  A little more composure and thought and we could have kept possession and got the ball past the centre.

I should add that Mrs DJC thought that our girls were more attractive than the Lions  Smile

Smile) Smile) Smile) Smile) Mrs Baggers said the same thing! She loves the AFLW.

The greatest difference between the two teams was our very poor kicking.  We were extremely poor at hitting a target, chose the wrong option, lacked penetration, panicked kicked -not selecting a team-mate but simply blasting away.  Time and again our kickers thought that they could kick further than they actually could and the ball was easily cut off by Brisbane.  VERY DISAPPOINTING.

Why play a defensive game when you have the two best forwards in your team?

Yes, that's what I saw.

Looking for a shorter option would have enabled us to keep possession and move the ball to where we could kick to our forwards' advantage.

With few exceptions, and particularly on the run, the women struggle to kick accurately over more than 30 metres (a bit like my kicking) and the game style should reflect that with an emphasis on short kicks to players in the clear.

Did anyone else watch the AFLW Rottingwood game? The last quarter was actually exciting... yep. And there was something oddly very pleasing watching Rottingwood lose a game they should have won.,. ;D

The season isn't that long, and with our injuries, even a 1 match ban is significant
