Probably just need to be a bit lenient on possessions given the reduced playing time. 24-5 probably equals 30+ Re: Post Game Party!: AFL 2020 Rd 3: Carlton vs Geelong - flyboy77 - 06-21-2020 (06-21-2020, 02:29 AM)LoveNavy link Wrote:Is that another afl error, or red time? "Quarters have been cut from the traditional 20 minutes plus time on to 16 minutes plus time on this season, in an effort to ensure the AFL can get a full season in during the coronavirus pandemic. This in effect changes the average AFL match length from 120 minutes to 100 minutes." But then they tell us the average quarter length since the start of round 2 is 27 minutes.... Yes, few of our blokes could execute that on their non preferred. Very few!! Re: Post Game Party!: AFL 2020 Rd 3: Carlton vs Geelong - Thryleon - 06-21-2020 Dahlhouse and menegola going down helped a lot. I wonder if that would have changed the outcome. For anyone who didn't notice gibbons had 7 possessions before quarter time and was brilliant early. They might have put some time into him afterwards. I noticed danger tag cripps a little after he couldnt get a touch early. A good rule of the thumb is time on is about half again more of the actual playing time, hence 30 min qtrs normally from 20 min actual playing time. I would've expected around 24 min qtrs now from 16 min actual playing time, so I'd say with less playing time, hence fresher players, there's more stoppages. That maybe the other 3 min. Very few!!Be able to use the non-preferred was an essential 30-40 years ago. When I used to go to training Parko would bellow "ok now, non-dominant side". It was practiced. They tried the old trick of playing a man off Cripps to exploit the fact he doesnt man up the opposition but Danger couldnt get near it and when he did he butchered the footy more often than not. Then they tried to get Selwood free by having him man Cripps but Curnow wouldnt leave him alone and that didnt work either.. In reality between Danger, Selwood, Ablett and Steven they probably got one decent quarter and that was from Dangerfield in the last. Dalhaus and Menegola would have hurt their rotations being injured and with Steven next to useless they were really three down... That has to help. Gibbons said on SEN today trying to learn to play the small forward role last year was so difficult and with Eddie back is really appreciating being back in his natural role in the midfield. Very few!! Got a few who cant execute on their preferred either....Heath Scotland was the only Carlton player I could think of who could use both feet equally as well in recent times....gem of a pass from Eddie to Murphy. |
