Great news. Surprised, but rapt. It's not personal, though it may seem it, I'm sure he's a terrific kid and hopefully he'll go back to the Magoos and focus and work on his game. But his output was below par. No more passengers...

Probably leaves Newman with Rayner if he starts on the field with their other tall forwards. Unless they get brave and start Kemp on Gunston....

Gunston plays a fair bit taller than his height but so do McGovern and Kemp.  I’d start Kemp on Gunston; he has the athleticism to match anything that Gunston can produce.  Gunston is wily but getting beat in contests tends to concentrate the mind on the basics.

Kemp (and Silvagni) took Young’s role when he went into the ruck and that could be a challenge with Brisbane’s tall forwards and the big O if he rests forward.  It will be interesting to see how we play that but limiting supply should be the focus.

Fisher dropped is surprising for one reason and one reason only.
Honey is still picked in the team.

Honey should have gone for Motlop, not Fisher.

In the short term I agree as fisher at this stage is a better footballer than honey but I like the long term approach Voss is showing here.

Honey is learning the ropes and while he hasn’t shown much yet giving a young player a decent block of games I think fast tracks development rather then only holding your spot if you perform. Obviously there comes a time when you have to make the call but I don’t mind giving young players extended runs.

Honey has absolute lighting pace, just wish he'd BLOODY USE IT MORE. Dead set, I hope the penny drops, no one will catch bloke. At the minute, he lopes around almost looking disinterested and like he has just woken up from a sleep. FFS drink a litre of red cordial before the game son!

Carlton is doing the right thing retaining Honey despite his lack of form.

He’s got himself to the right positions a few times but for whatever reason appears to be lacking confidence - I’m hoping that this extended run of games is a sign that our coaching staff are telling Honey that he has free licence and that they do not mind if Honey makes a mistake taking players on or having a shot. If Honey’s confidence builds and he starts to use his pace and strength there simply aren’t too many defenders that will be able to go with him.

I dont think a small plays forward of center that averages 1 tackle and 2 score assists gets a game under Voss

All valid points re Honey.

But....he was not in great form in the VFL. He has shown little form in the AFL.
So if we want to build confidence etc, surely he has to get VFL right first?

The kid has had an extended run at it already. This will be his 5th game in a row. He has had a best game of 10 disposals. Is tackling less than twice a game on average. Has 1, 1% for the year.
He is older than Durdin and Motlop, but performing worse and hitting the scoreboard less, as well as getting the ball less.

We don't gift games to anyone at the moment, Cowan, Holland and Cincotta have all earned games.......and then there is honey.
Cowan performed better, but was still dropped when form warranted it.

I don't see what he is doing that continues to give him that 'free pass' for now.
